Job Description

Brooklyn Prospect Charter School is seeking a Special Projects Manager to join our Elementary School team at our Downtown Elementary campus!

This is an ideal position for someone who is passionate about education and is knowledgeable about the charter movement. They would have a background in operations and project management in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be highly interested in school operations & project management and committed to growing in our organization as we expand.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of School Operations, the Special Projects Manager will help keep the academic and personal success of our students as a core focus, while striving to grow professionally and support a positive school community. 

As Special Projects Manager, you will be responsible for:

Special Events Planning & Management

  • Plan and execute all logistics & communications for school events, such as field trips, picture day, end of year ceremonies, etc.
  • Serve as the Operations Team support person for any additional family or staff culture events led by the student culture team.

Finance & Procurement

  • Serve as school’s finance & procurement owner
  • Manage all teacher & staff purchasing requests using Certify, the Network’s centralized procurement system
  • Complete all supply orders on behalf of the school
  • Ensure payment of all school invoices in a timely manner

Student & Staff Technology

  • Manage the distribution of assigned student technology (ie, Chromebooks)
  • Maintain main office systems for tracking borrowed & returned student devices
  • Serve as primary support for classroom technology concerns, escalating to the Prospect Schools IT Team as needed.

Visual Culture

  • Manage the visual aesthetics of the school’s hallways, including bulletin boards, posters, and school signage.
  • Create & execute new initiatives to beautify school spaces to maximize the staff and student experience.

School Systems Support

  • Support with the execution of daily school systems, such as arrival, lunch, dismissal, etc. as designated by the Director of School Operations

General School Operations Support:

  • Plan and implement trainings and workshops for faculty and staff on operations areas of ownership
  • Collaborate regularly to support and obtain support from the Operations team
  • Contribute toward the development of standard operating procedures in all areas of influence, and continue to find new ways to improve quality and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws
  • Assist with other duties and provide general support of the BPCS mission in whatever way possible

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (minimum)
  • 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Experience with and commitment to working with a diverse community of students
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Mac OS
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Ability to develop and implement strong systems
  • Consistent follow-through
  • Able to independently advance work towards goals without significant oversight from manager
  • Collaborative spirit and a team oriented player
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus
