PROSCIA is Hiring a Business Analyst Near Philadelphia, PA

About Proscia

Pathology is at the center of medicine, and is undergoing a profound transformation as the final frontier of digitization in healthcare. We started Proscia to accelerate pathology’s transition from microscope to images, and to use that data to change the way we think about cancer. We can’t change medicine alone. That’s why we’re looking for curious thinkers. Big dreamers. Developers, evangelists, pathologists, and scientists. Exceptional talent to help us use great power for good and advance humankind.

At Proscia, we push the limits of medicine and technology, solving problems the world has never solved before. We build software used by thousands of scientists and pathologists, who work on the front lines of fighting big enemies, like cancer, for patients around the globe. To accelerate our vision, Proscia has raised $72MM in funding from great investors like Scale Venture Partners, Hitachi Ventures, Flybridge, and more.

About this Position

The data to fight cancer lies in images - specifically, in gigapixel scans of tissue. Proscia’s industry-leading software enables physicians and researchers to participate in the digital revolution underway in pathology, delivering not just images and data, but also algorithmic insights exceeding the limits of the human eye. As a Business Analyst, you’ll report to the Product Management organization and be responsible for delivering on the strategic product roadmap, working alongside engineers, designers, and product managers to prioritize building what matters most and helping to revolutionize pathology.

Responsibilities: What You’ll Do

Proscia is a well-funded startup and we look for the entrepreneurial thinkers that thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment. When you come to work, you can expect to focus on:

  • Collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers to determine project scope and vision
  • Participating in the scrum team; grooming and maintaining a development-ready backlog
  • Eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and validating the needs of stakeholders
  • Conducting interviews to gather requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods
  • Assisting with the interpretation of customer requirements into feasible options, and communicating these back to the product team
  • Translating conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to the scrum team
  • Developing and conducting peer reviews of the requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted
  • Creating process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to the scrum team
  • Analyzing and verifying requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards
  • Communicating changes, enhancements, and modifications of requirements — verbally or through written documentation — to stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood
  • Assisting in conducting research on third-party solutions to meet agreed upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts
  • Participating in acceptance testing for sprint deliverables
  • Participating in the QA of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized
  • Utilizing standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications
  • Researching, reviewing, and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and developing strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes
  • Creating and maintaining product documentation in accordance with Proscia’s Quality Management System
  • Creating and maintaining product collateral, including user guides, training materials, tutorials, etc.

What we’re seeking:

While we’re open to candidates that can prove us otherwise, we expect:

  • Bachelor’s degree (any relevant field)
  • 3-5 years related work experience in the Software as a Medical Device (SAMD) space
  • Experience working as an integrated part of scrum teams
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take action on it
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Self-starter that loves taking initiative with the self-awareness to know when to ask for help

Candidates that stand out from the rest will have:

  • Experience with b2b software
  • Experience with software used in Healthcare or Life Sciences
  • Experience with SaaMD (software as a medical device) or software used in regulated medical markets
  • Experience in working at or with startups

Beyond Just Work

As a company in the healthcare field, we want our people to be happy and healthy, in and out of the office. In addition to competitive pay, we ensure everyone on our team is supported with savings, schedule, and insurance options that promote long-term health and personal growth.

Our office environment is designed for creativity and agility: with walls as notepads and couches for collaboration. We’re located in the heart of Philadelphia, with views of the city atop the train station so you can spend your time focusing on what matters most. Yes, we have the free food, gourmet coffee, craft beer, massage chairs, and wellness rooms —but you’ll come for the challenge, the camaraderie, and the opportunity to do bold work.

At Proscia, we don’t just accept differences — we celebrate them, we support them, and we thrive on them for the benefit of our employees, our products, and our community. Proscia is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
