Progressive AE is Hiring an Electrical Engineer (Industrial) Near Charlotte, NC
YOUR ROLE: As an Industrial Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role on the team supporting our industrial projects. This can entail working on a wide diversity of project types and scopes, such as cleanrooms, food and beverage, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, or other high-performance environments. The position has a design focus on power, instrumentation, and controls but can also involve lighting, fire alarm, and security system design. You will collaborate closely with other members of the project team, coordinating between various disciplines while maintaining the quality and content of their documents. WHAT YOU WILL DO:Provide extensive expertise in the technical aspects of the electrical design including code compliance, specifications, system integration and constructability.Resolve complex technical issues, ensure integration of disciplines, and provide strategies for meeting aggressive schedules and budgets.Attend site-visits to resolve issues encountered in the field such as unforeseen conditions, code issues, and interpretation of construction documents.Provide quality assurance/quality control measures for projects.Mentor, train, and direct the work of less experienced staff. Organize and produce quality, detailed documentation for projects for projects, ranging in size from small to large scale, complex projects. Prepare building models, detailed contract documents, construction documents, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security systems and communications design, and specifications consistent with Progressive AE’s standards. Coordinate checking submittals, issuing addenda and construction change directives.Collaborate on technical components of projects with other internal disciplines and outside consultants, leading and utilizing best practices for Building Information Modeling (BIM). Coordinate the work of the electrical design team through the schematic design development and construction phase of the project. Organize construction document sets from beginning to end. Determine and promote the best use of design software/technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, BSD Speclink, Elum Tools or Visual Lighting Software, Easy Power and other emerging technologies for presentation and production purposes.Produce contract documents that are efficient and consistent with the scope of work, schedule, and fee allotted to complete the work.Foster a personal commitment and holds others accountable to a high level of external and internal client service.Exhibit a level of comfort and confidence with client representatives regarding your area of expertise, while maintaining a positive relationship of trust. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:Your Degree: Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or drafting from an EAC/ABET- accredited program or equivalent in education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Your Licensure: CSI-CDT preferred (or willingness to complete within 1 year). Your Knowledge and Experience:Minimum 10 years electrical design or electrical manufacturing maintenance experience. If less than 10 years, industrial electrical design experience is required. Strong knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) required. Industrial design experience highly preferred.Strong knowledge and experience in the following:Electrical engineering and documentation process, including power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm design, security systems design, and communications design.Quality assurance/quality control processes.Producing construction drawings and specifications independently and take on larger, more complex assignments as well as those of a routine nature.Building codes and mechanical standards and regulations across various state in which Progressive AE works, and the ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.Consistent background of strong team collaboration skills as evidenced by positive project results and outcomes. Ability to coordinate and integrate work effectively with architects, designers, engineers, construction administrators, consultants, and any other members of the project team.Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, teamwork, design, project management and coordination skills for large, complex tasks and assignments on multiple projects as demonstrated through your competencies.Experience with or ability to provide mentoring to more junior staff.Your Technical Skills:Proficiency with Revit or AutoCAD highly preferred.EasyPower or other power analysis experience preferred.Strong experience in power, instrumentation, and controls highly preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required. Experience in Project, SharePoint, and Teams preferred.Ability to travel locally and/or nationally up to 10% of the time.
