Since 1981, ProcessBarron has been a leader in the design, manufacturing and installation of Boiler, Kiln and Furnace system Equipment. We primarily service the Power & Utility, Pulp & Paper, Cement & Lime, Steel & Aluminum industries. We provide a wide range of products and services to all regions of the US, Canda, and Mexico. All of our products are manufactured at our engineering and manufacturing facilities near Birmingham, AL.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Material Handling Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers and designers and will oversee all daily operations of the Department, with hands-on involvement, to design products and projects from order receipt through final detailing in an engineer to order (ETO) environment. The position will develop employees and monitor use of design standards within the group. This role will also ensure accuracy of the drawings, bill of material (BOM), and ERP. The Material Handling Engineering Manager will assist in development of cost effective and product improvement strategies for existing products. They also will lead value-engineering projects to ensure designs are up to industry standards and are competitive.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- Managing multiple designers to ensures final output of designs are functional, cost-effective, and meet customer requirements.
- Designing and detailing-- including structural components, mechanical components, platework, flat patterns, welding requirements, geometric dimensions and tolerancing, machined parts as appropriate for to material handling systems for ash and fuel handling systems.
- Understand, interpret, and verify compliance with applicable codes and specifications.
- Assists the Sales and Estimating Groups with development of proposals and quotes.
- Prepares, communicates, and monitors individual workloads to optimize and adhere to project schedules as well as capacity management, project status, and engineering lead times.
- Coordinates drawing releases and changes.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure results meet requirements regarding quality, schedule, cost, and technical requirements.
- Effectively learn and utilize the ERP system
- Improve existing and develop new processes and methods for the purpose of increasing output or efficiency and reducing costs.
- Responsible for maintaining required specialized competencies within the department to support products and projects.
- Develop department objectives, focus areas and goals in line with company objectives, and provide functional assignments within the department.
- Responsible for coaching, evaluating, and development of team members to meet long and short-term department objectives.
- Provide technical expertise in product development projects, design reviews, verification, validation, and manufacturability involving R&D, Product Group, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other departments.
- Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
- Understands, applies, and advocates all company environmental, safety, and quality policies, procedures, and standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of maintaining frequent contact with upper management, customers, vendors
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD systems.

- The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Particles
