Overview

*This position may be based out of our Sandy or Heber office and will require regular short-term travel.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will represent the company and affiliated business units on all legal matters.

  • Prepare, review, and revise utility construction agreements, subcontractor agreements, leases, easements, licensing agreements, rental agreements, and other transactional documents.
  • Research, advise, and oversee compliance with applicable statutes, rules, and regulations, including OSHA and employment laws in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Prepare correspondence, motions, pleadings, briefs, position statements, and claims on behalf of the company.
  • Oversee licensing and permitting in multiple jurisdictions for construction activities.
  • Represent the company in judicial, regulatory, or administrative proceedings in federal, state, and local forums.
  • Manage and resolve construction claims and disputes, including construction defects, torts, payments, bond claims, and liens, and coordinate with outside counsel as appropriate.
  • Mediate, negotiate, arbitrate, litigate, and present oral arguments on behalf of the company.
  • Develop and present recommendations to company management to ensure compliance with applicable legal authority and minimize legal risks.

Requirements

  • JD; 5 years of experience working in either a private practice or in-house setting.
  • Licensed to practice law in applicable jurisdiction (Utah is strongly preferred).
  • Experience with large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction projects is preferred.
  • Proven experience and skill in contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiating.
  • Ability to work with a range of legal and non-legal professionals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook etc. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Willingness to travel short-term.
  • Must pass mandatory drug screening(s).
