PRICE ELECTRIC is Hiring a Low Voltage Technician Near Des Moines, IA

HITECH Communications, a division of PRICE ELECTRIC is looking for a skilled Low Voltage Technician to assist us in growing our team in the Des Moines area! Blending current technology with construction in a hands-on way, the technician will work on various systems including:

  • Security/Intrusion
  • Camera
  • Structured Cabling
  • Access Control
  • Fire Alarm

Low Voltage Technician primary duties include:

  • Utilizing construction documents and drawings and planning the work with a project manager or independently
  • Installing, wiring and terminating low voltage systems in new construction, remodels and service settings
  • Testing and verifying proper installation of all systems and devices in accordance with specifications
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues and creating estimates for repairs
  • Performing preventative maintenance, repairs and replacements
  • Communicating professionally with clients, co-workers, general contractors and any potential customers, including explaining and demonstrating how specific systems work
  • Using multimeters and toners for particular voltages and circuit analysis
  • Training coworkers
  • Completing daily updates on projects, jobs and schedule

Qualifications include:

  • 5 years of communications system experience
  • Industry certification (e.g., Bicsi, NICET) or willingness and ability to certify within an agreed upon period
  • High School or GED diploma and additional technology/network training required
  • Ability to program basic operations without supervision
  • Valid driver license and good driving record
  • Ability to regularly work at heights while on a ladder, stand, lift above shoulder, lift 50 lbs., distinguish colors, and use hands with force and precision 
  • Proven customer service and effective communication, interaction and coordination with various groups
