Description

This role will include calling patients to discuss payment and develop reasonable payment plans, recording patient data and information about outstanding claims.

Essential Duties

• Detail understanding of clearinghouse rejections and edits.
• Attention to detail when completing assigned tasks.
• Collaborating with patients, third party institutions and other team members to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors.
• Creating invoices and billing materials to be sent directly to patients.
• Entering payment history, upcoming payment information or other financial data into patient accounts.
• Finding financial solutions for patients who may need payment assistance.
• Informing patients or customers of any missed or upcoming payment deadlines.
• Reviewing patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and obtaining any missing information.
• Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
• Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
• Reviewing accounts for insurance of patient follow-up.
• Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
• Setting up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum 1-3 years of recent experience in medical billing required.
• Excellent computer skills and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of full revenue cycle (processing claims, resolving denials, maximizing reimbursement, A/R).
• Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Suite which includes Word, Excel, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings.
• The ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines.
