Premier Health is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Baton Rouge, LA

Description

Summary

The Staff Accountant performs a variety of general accounting support tasks in an accounting department which may include but not limited to: Verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records, processing Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable, update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., clinic and billing office collections, receipts, accounts payable). Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs and prepare a variety of reports. Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
• Examine accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department.
• Review records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts
• Processes all vendor invoices for payment as well as completes intercompany allocations for shared billings.
• Answers all vendor inquiries.
• Reconciles various payable and prepaid accounts in order to effectively manage account balances.
• Distributes signed checks as required.
• Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
• Assist with preparation of monthly bank reconciliation.
• Assist with preparation of monthly financials which may include balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
• Assist with yearly company financial review.
• Responsible for balancing ledgers in a timely manner and maintaining an organized filing system of clinic ledgers.
• Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources of Company in a prudent and ethical manner.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
• Participates in department quality improvement activities, staff educational programs, attends departmental meetings, and demonstrates and maintains competency in the delivery of patient care services in accordance with Company guidelines.
• All other tasks as assigned

Requirements

Education and/or Experience Bachelor of Business Administration with preferred emphasis on Accounting or Finance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure
manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,
clients, customers, and the general public.

Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,

Reasoning Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Quick Books and
various Accounting software; DocuTap software; Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing
software.
