As a Solution Architect IV, you will analyze, design, code, test, maintain, debug, and modify software, applications, packaged applications, and systems for local, networked, web, mobile or cloud-based technologies generally in an agile team environment. You will analyze complex issues and significantly improve, change, or adapt existing methods to bring together multiple concepts across functions to define a new direction or significant advance. You will set technical priorities within your area of expertise guided by business plans and functional strategy and will demonstrate authoritative advice on the best course of action in your area of expertise. This is a virtual/telecommute position, working from home. What you’ll do: Identify creative and innovative solutions to business problems as well as new ways to utilize technology within the organization, significantly improving organizational effectiveness and reduce the TCO (total cost of ownership) when appropriate. Analyze high risk, multi-faceted, cross functional, and organization wide issues to design solutions and provide engineering leadership in the design of solutions for the organization; develop long term technical strategy for solutions and engineering functions. Construct and modify code and system set-up based on program specifications using multiple programming languages or system platforms; apply CICD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment). Provide technical leadership and direction to other staff members. Perform testing using unit testing and test automation and document test results; participate in testing associated with cross-functional project team efforts; lead the organization’s shift to test driven development. Produce appropriate technical or architectural documentation and notifications for changes to production systems or fixes to production problems; create SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) artifacts. Define complex solution architecture that could be managed by a vendor or hosted internally, including consulting with system architects to harmonize complex systems or infrastructure with the solution architecture, define non-functional requirements, and identify when cross solution dependencies exist that create the need to modify the solution architecture; must understand, articulate, and take accountability for a solution's business concerns, impacts and implications. Participate and lead in developing road maps describing the evolution of enterprise solution portfolios from current state to future state; this includes analysis across domains to recommend changes within the roadmaps. Partner with Enterprise Architects to define models, including solution patterns, to guide solution decisions for the entire enterprise, as well as participating and leading the collaboration cadence related to knowledge sharing and governance, e.g., solution architecture community of practice, architecture and high-level design reviews. Solution Architects are change agents of our IT strategic objectives, specifically, Product and Service Driven and adopting an End-to-End Services Mindset. Analyze complex, multi-faceted, high impact production problems, assess alternatives, and implement long-term solutions. Includes performance tuning, technical troubleshooting, debugging, call-rotation, and root cause analysis. Support or guide technical direction of project initiatives collaborating with the rest of the design team and stakeholders ensuring that development milestones and deadlines are met. Provide feedback and advice on peer designs in an open and collaborative environment, mentor other engineering staff and act as technical and business leader sharing knowledge, and expertise with others inside team as well as with other stakeholders. Proactively contribute to knowledge sharing across Premera developer community. Influence change and evolution in IT standards, practices, and processes; drive application of engineering best practices for your team. Stay current in industry trends and contribute to expanding the knowledge and skills of peers and teammates while researching and gaining understanding of innovative technology solutions and identifying their application to the organization’s business, actively mentor individuals and teams. Participate in internal and external opportunities to increase knowledge on advanced technical issues; help managers guide career growth of their team members; research and benchmark our technology against competing systems in the industry. What you’ll bring: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. (Required) (12) years of relevant experience, knowledge of software development lifecycle and skills to utilize one or more programming languages. (Required) Entry to this job level requires technical and professional review. Experience with Siebel. Experience working with cloud solutions. Experience in healthcare industry or a highly regulated environment. Technical knowledge and experience with specific technical tools used at Premera (i.e., Facets) is preferred. Previous experience in an agile environment. Exposure to API and service-based technologies. Experience using and creating automated test tools. Demonstrated deep, specialized domain knowledge and expertise as well as expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise systems architecture and engineering best practices.
