Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full- time Phlebotomist at our office located at: 2000 Oxford Drive, Suite 220, Bethel Park, PA 15102. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with all aspects of a Phlebotomy position including essentials such as working with computers and having the ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment Prior Phlebotomy and Medical Office experience highly preferred, but new graduates of a phlebotomy program are encouraged to apply. General Purpose of the Phlebotomist:
The Phlebotomist Serves patients by preparing specimens for laboratory testing; performing screening procedures.

Essential Duties of a Phlebotomist:

  • Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
  • Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.
  • Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.
  • Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.
  • Performs bleeding-times tests by entering results to the computer; notifying pathologist of results falling outside normal ranges.
  • Maintains quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule; recording results in the quality-control log; identifying and reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Education:

A high school diploma or GED is required. Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant. Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred, however open to new graduate applicants.
