Our Corporate office, located in Shelton, CT seeks a Benefits Administrator.

Summary

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing, planning and administering the Company’s employee benefits programs, including health, life, disability, 401k, FSA and workers’ compensation programs. The ideal candidate has 10 years of experience and expertise, knows how benefit plans work inside and out, is comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, and enjoys working with employees to answer questions and solve problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer all Company benefit plans, including medical, dental, life, executive life, disability, flexible spending, 401(k), travel, accident, all voluntary benefit programs, and any other Company benefit programs.
  • Assist Director of HR in designing benefits programs, including recommending changes to keep pace with the market, comply with legal obligations, and control costs.
  • Daily processing of benefits, including proper handling of enrollments, terminations, changes, leaves, COBRA, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, and assist as needed with any rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, and hardships.
  • Assist in administering compensation program, including salary surveys and pay grade maintenance.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and reporting.
  • Coordinate FSA and health plan compliance testing and assist/support corporate accounting with 401(k) compliance testing.
  • Primary day-to-day contact for all carriers and vendors.
  • Member of 401(k) Plan Sponsor committee.
  • Coordinate and plan open enrollment and special enrollment processes.
  • Assist employees and HR with prompt resolution of benefit-related questions and issues.
  • Coordinate benefit and wellness training and communications for HR and employees.
  • Responsible for timely producing and distributing all ERISA-required notices, summary plan descriptions and other plan documents or notices.
  • Responsible for benefit-related reporting and filings, including 1095 and 5500 forms.
  • Verify and process invoices for timely payment monthly.
  • Manage and resolve issues with carriers and benefits-related vendors.
  • Maintain all benefit-related information systems.
  • Assist in all wellness-related activities.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree, preferably in human resource management or related field.
  • At least 8 years of benefits administration experience.

  • Highest level of confidentiality, integrity, honesty, and professionalism
  • Knowledge of all relevant federal and state regulations affecting benefit plans (including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, and Social Security and DOL requirements)
  • Proficiency with HR/benefit information systems
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to pitch in and work as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Advanced level in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Office 365 (SharePoint, Teams, OneNote)
