A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PROJECT MANAGER

As a commercial construction PM, you play a key role in the successful completion of projects for our company. You monitor day-to-day activities, ensuring the completion of tasks in a timely manner and within budgetary constraints. By engaging with subcontractors, you review proposals and make sure projects are completed within the set timeline. While on-site, you keep track of safety standards and ensure that all personnel are following protocols, including OSHA and CalOSHA standards. You report statuses of projects to internal PGCC stakeholders and clients and follow up on all necessary order materials.

Your project management duties also include checking to see that all subcontractors have current insurance certificates. Working closely with the senior project manager, you forward contracts over to be reviewed and signed and compile weekly status reports. You ensure that clients are always satisfied and that your project team is consistently performing the highest quality work in a timely manner. Using your leadership skills to lead a successful project brings you great satisfaction, and this is what makes you an ideal commercial construction PM!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PROJECT MANAGER

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5 years of experience as a project manager in the construction industry
• Experience with Microsoft Project as well as other scheduling and tracking software
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Ability to quickly and appropriately prioritize conflicting demands
• Strong leadership skills
