The Part-Time Collections Assistant will report to the Billing & Collections Manager and will work within the Company’s internal accounting department and will focus solely on collections.

Preferred schedule will be 3 full days (7.5 hours/day) per week or 5 hours a day, 5 days per week.

General Responsibilities:

• Monitor the firm’s accounts receivable and identify overdue accounts
• Contact customers with overdue accounts and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan to collect it in installments
• Use credit bureau data, post office information, internet searches and other tools to try to locate customers who have moved or changed phone numbers
• Maintain records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent account customers as well as records of any payments collected from the customer
• Resolve customer issues and complaints concerning billing
• Submit regular reports on the status of unpaid accounts and any repayment progress

Qualifications, Education & Desired Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred, not mandatory for this position
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in Collections in either accounting, law, medical or insurance industries
• Good listening/communication skills
• Familiarity or prior experience working with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other laws governing debt collection practices
• Negotiating skills
• Patience and stress management abilities
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
