Praescient has extensive experience designing, developing, and integrating solutions for customers including the US Army, Special Operations Command (SOCOM), US Navy (USN), US Marine Corps (USMC), US Coast Guard (USCG), Department of Justice (DOJ), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Intelligence Community, state and local law enforcement agencies, among others.

The Return Review Program (RRP) performs automated Identity Theft (IDT), Income verification, tax compliance and pre-refund anomaly detection and fraud detection. RRP continues to evolve and enhance system capabilities, providing greater security for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS or Government) and our nation’s taxpayers, leading the charge against IDT and the filing of fraudulent returns. To keep pace with the complex, ever-evolving world of tax fraud, the RRP program has embraced the Agile framework in support of more frequent and rapid delivery. This enhances the Government’s ability to respond to IDT and fraud threats by quickly updating analytical tools to protect taxpayers’ identities and prevent refunds from falling into the wrong hands. The program is improving both individual and business tax return anomaly & fraud detection with more sophisticated capabilities for data comparison/data analysis through its filters, predictive models, data visualization and using data computing appliances. The goal is to create predictive fraud and non-compliance detection models using vast amount of data from various sources that will seek out subtle data patterns to determine reliability of return data.

Praescient Analytics is in search of a Java Developer to support activities for RRP, including assisting in developing, creating, and modifying general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. There is hybrid work option available.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Java background with the ability to plan, define and support the software design patterns, approaches and strategies for the delivery of future functional and technical capabilities for a software component or group of components. Manage impact assessment efforts and produce or review estimates for new features, software changes or defect fixes.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) with at least three consecutive years of U.S. residency from the date of legal entry, as an LPR.
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 7 years as a Java Software Developer in specified language and related skill sets.
  • 2 years using Rational Team Concert or equivalent tool set.
  • Hands-on Greenplum experience.
  • Active Pubic Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous RRP and/or IRS experience with an active MBI clearance
  • Experience in working with Greenplum (PostgreSQL) and Oracle SQL/PLSQL
