Overview

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) role is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units or functional area. This role will lead a functional North American HR business partner team. The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource related issues. The successful Senior HR Business Partner acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with Talent and business management, the Sr. HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across the Talent function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The position may include international human resource responsibilities. The Sr. HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, budget and headcount planning, its culture, and its competition.

Responsibilities

  • In alignment with the Talent Strategy and Talent Leadership Team, provides strategic Talent insights and planning to respective functional executive and functional business partner team.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Leads functional business partner team to ensure and enhance a positive employee experience.
  • Provides consultation to senior-level leaders regarding organization design, employee culture and engagement, and other talent and performance management processes in alignment with Talent Strategy.
  • Leads weekly meetings with respective functional leadership teams, global HR business partner team, finance business partner team, and respective talent partners across the Talent Organization to drive alignment between the business and Talent.
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Champions and supports goal-setting process, partnering with departmental champions to support progress and successful goal attainment.
  • Demonstrates and cascades the company’s values and behaviors within the business, including remote locations to ensure a high performing culture.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Supports in the implementation and action planning for the annual Employee Engagement Survey and quarterly Pulse Surveys; provides assigned functional leadership team with strategies to improve and enhance employee engagement.
  • Connects regularly with the broader HR business partner team and Talent Organization to ensure policies and procedures are reviewed for relevance and improvement.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Manages employee relations matters to mitigate legal or cultural risk, aligning to local employment and labor laws. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to continuously improve the Employee Value Proposition within the assigned functional area. Identifies recruitment needs and gaps within the business and partners in developing plans to maximize talent acquisition effectiveness.
  • Assists with researching and analyzing recruitment best practices within respective functional area to partner with Talent Acquisition partner to maintain a competitive recruitment advantage.
  • Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
  • Reviews functional budgets and forecasting to make recommendations to business leaders to ensure appropriate Workforce Planning.
  • Provides support with the Total Rewards program, including regularly reviewing the effectiveness of the program within the assigned functional area and assisting with the implementation and execution of the annual compensation review process.
  • Assists international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Partner with leaders and Business Partners to identify opportunities for changes within their business units. Support them through the change, coordinate communications, and provide sound business recommendations considering talent and business requirements.
  • Support the roll-out of other key changes as directed by the business.
  • Monitor and track diversity data for respective functional area, and work with departmental diversity and inclusion teams to improve overall diversity and engagement of diverse populations.
  • Champions the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy through supporting functional leadership in implementation initiatives to drive change.

Qualifications

To be considered for and to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience supporting C-level executives as a HR business partner. Prior experience as an HR Manager, preferably in a global organization and matrix/functional structure, preferred
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant industry experience
  • Strong business acumen and EQ to deliver thought leadership to the functional and global business
  • Knowledge of sound business practices
  • Ability to support the development and implementation of HR programs and procedures
  • Ability to influence, engage, and build strong trusting relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills, including an ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity & inclusion, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Consultative approach when advising execs, management, and employees
  • Global and cultural awareness
  • HR professional designation, preferred, or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
