Responsibilities

General

Work with the Scheduling/Purchasing Manager and other Managers and Supervisors to maintain Quality Control processes and documentation. Identify opportunities for improvement in the Quality Control department as well as any other departments that Quality Control interacts with. 

Inspection / Day-to-Day Activities

  • Use Axiom and input from other Supervisors to schedule / prioritize the items in the inspection queue
  • Perform day to day inspections on parts produced in Press, Assembly and Plating
  • Perform inspection on incoming items (items from vendor taping, plating, etc.)
  • Perform incoming inspection on purchased items
  • Write and track NSM’s and IRN’s (improve process where needed)
  • Perform root cause analysis on NSM’s and IRN’s where needed (report findings at weekly “Tuesday Morning” meetings)
  • Lead MRB meeting
  • Work directly with customers and vendors to resolve quality issues
  • Organize and take responsibility for gage tracking and calibration (schedule third party vendors as necessary)
  • Metrics

  • Monitor and improve throughput in the QC department
  • Introduce, track and publish metrics that drive efficiency within the inspection process
  • Track and publish scrap data (pieces, dollars, quantities and rates)
  • Establish benchmarks and goals for continuous improvement within the department
  • Training

  • Train / cross train other employees in the QC department on all equipment and documentation processes
  • Train new associates in other departments on measuring and quality procedures as necessary
  • Develop formal training and evaluation procedures
  • ISO9000

  • Review ISO9000 standards
  • Facilitate Management Review documentation and quarterly meetings
  • Process Improvement

  • Design a new floor plan for QC office, 5S and create a “visual factory” environment
  • Implement dock-to-stock program for approved vendors
  • Identify and improve other Quality Control related processes that will benefit the company
