Job Description

PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the role of Certification Manager based in Salford, Manchester. Portwest is one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 5100 staff worldwide with customer service staff in over 160 countries. We design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities. As a Certification Officer, you will ensure that Portwest products are certified to relevant Safety standards, you will do this by managing the certification database, supporting Product Managers in applying for product testing and having compliance certificates issued in a timely manner.


KEY RESPONSIBILITES


  • Work as an integral part of the product team to support in the testing and certification of our safety products.
  • Work with Portwest vendors to ensure certification held is always current and compliant.
  • Build relationships with notified bodies to ensure that Portwest receives a good service and on time delivery of testing and certification services.
  • Ensure we are getting good value by getting alternative quotations and negotiating on cost.
  • Manage Portwest’s regulatory affairs utilising purpose-built expiry date databases and SharePoint.
  • Keep up to date with current regulatory legislation and impending changes to ensure
  • Portwest remains compliant in accordance with international standards and regulations, while also supporting new product introductions with professional bodies. You will attend seminars, workshops and read industry literature to do this
  • Develop technical expertise in relation to the PPE regulation and other international personal safety standards.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


To be successful in the role of Certification Manager, you will:


  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Strong on Excel, SharePoint and other Microsoft systems.
  • Strong communicator. Have the ability to influence and negotiate within the team, and with 3rd party notified bodies and suppliers.
  • Exercises high levels of attention to detail, and have ability to analyse and interpret technical documentation.
  • Previous Regulatory/Compliance experience from a PPE, Pharmaceutical, Chemical or Medical Device industry background is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the EN and global standards for workwear and PPE is desirable but not essential.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience required.
