Communities Healing Together Project Manager

The Communities Together (CHT) Project Managers work under the supervision of the Communities Healing Together Director and in partnership with the Healing Together team to design, facilitate, and convene Self-Healing Community initiatives in Camden, Mercer, Essex and Monmouth Counties. (At present we are particularly looking for candidates connected in Camden and Essex counties.) These individuals serve as key links between GSE and community partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in ACE Interface training to present “Understanding NEAR: Building Self-Healing Communities” (NEAR=Neurobiology, Epigenetics, ACEs and Resilience).
  • Facilitate ongoing “Understanding NEAR: Building Self-Healing Communities” training in the communities.
  • Develop understanding and model competence in Positive Deviance approach.
  • Recruit and convene and support volunteer cross-sector stakeholder teams in each community.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key collaborative partners, particularly through community programs and partnerships.
  • Support local communities to implement the four phases of the Self-Healing Communities model: expanded inclusive leadership; coming together for focus; ongoing shared learning; and results-oriented decision making.
  • Recruit, train, and maintain a strong and diverse stakeholder team to help deliver a Positive Deviance approach.
  • Document all program planning, policies, procedures, practices, and logistics to ensure quality control and sustainability.
  • Write or assist in writing program, logic models and grant proposals.
  • Support organizational outcome tracking and evaluation procedures for programs.
  • Assist with logistics as needed to support program implementation.
  • Support relevant efforts related to program growth outlined in the GSE Strategic Plan.
  • Perform additional duties designated by the Executive Director and Deputy Director to achieve success of programs and meet the mission of Garden State Equality.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/EXPERIENCE:

  • A strong personal commitment to Garden State Equality’s mission and Self-Healing Communities work.
  • Ability to develop and implement programs related to Garden State Equality’s mission, vision, and philosophy.
  • Demonstrated strong facilitation and group leadership skills.
  • A familiarity with and understanding of LGBTQ issues and issues of diversity and inclusion, with knowledge of how those issues are impacted by Positive and Adverse Childhood Experience (PACEs).
  • Understanding of Anti-Racism and a commitment to ongoing anti-racist personal growth.
  • Record of building coalitions and partnerships with like-minded organizations.
  • Experience working with youth, schools, businesses, as well as elected and government officials, interfaith, and/or community groups.
  • Experience working in a leadership capacity with diverse groups.
  • Experience living or working in Camden, Mercer, Essex or Monmouth County.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and self directed.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative independently.
  • The ability to collaboratively develop curriculum for educational programming.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of assessment and measurement tools.
  • Willingness and flexibility to engage in occasional weekend, evening, and overnight residential programs.
  • Willingness to travel to Camden, Mercer, Essex and Monmouth counties for events, meetings, and trainings multiple times a week.
  • Must have own car, valid driver’s license, and auto liability insurance.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Spanish-language proficiency preferred.
  • BA or equivalent in a related field preferred, plus minimum of 3 years’ experience in program development and work in the fields of education, organizational development, diversity, and/or change management.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Google teams, Windows/Microsoft Office environment, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

SALARY:

  • Full-time annual salary commensurate with experience.
