Rental Coordinator

Pleasant Bay Community Boating is an organization that offers boating, marine education, and environmental stewardship opportunities to residents and visitors to the Pleasant Bay region. We are dedicated to serving all members of the community including those with physical, developmental and cognitive disabilities, as well as under-served families and at-risk youth. This 20-year-old 501(c)(3) organization, with a 3.6-acre campus on the shores of beautiful Pleasant Bay, continues to serve multiple boating interests. We offer youth and adult sailing lessons, community outreach sailing experience, marine science camps and hands-on activities, and boat rentals. Our fleet includes Flying Scots, Sunfish, 420’s, Catboats, Kayaks, Opti’s, and a solar-powered floating classroom.

PBCB is looking for a Rental Coordinator to assist the Waterfront Director in answering questions, booking customers, and getting renters out on the water. Our ideal candidate is motivated, passionate, flexible, upbeat, organized, and able to think on their feet. We’re looking for somebody that is excited to interact with customers and sailors of all ages. Our Rental Coordinator will represent PBCB well, hold safety as a top priority, and communicate with sail staff to ensure rentals and lessons share the fleet seamlessly.

Responsibilities:

- Become familiar with our program offerings and be able to answer customer questions or direct them towards somebody that can.

- Become familiar with our fleet and be willing to learn basic rigging, though a sailing or instructing background is not necessary.

- Learn to use our registration software (MyRec) and be able to book customers, change or cancel reservations, and share rosters with sail staff.

- Assist with taking phone calls, fielding emails, and answering general questions about our programs and rental offerings.

- Review and file rental waivers

- Keep an updated list of sailors that have passed their Skills Check

- Work with the Registrar to notify participants of cancellations, in the event of severe weather.

- Help enforce PBCB’s water safety protocols and act as a role model on the property.

- Greet and orient renters, make sure everyone has an appropriate PFD, and ensure radios are checked in and out.

General Skills:

- Maintain a professional and fun demeanor.

- Work alongside PBCB’s directors and instructors to make sure sailors are taken care of and stay safe.

- Friendly, outgoing, organized, responsible, hardworking.

- Always model respect for the water, each other, and our equipment

- Follow all PBCB policies and guidelines.- Eager to help with additional small administrative tasks when asked or as time permits

Requirements:

- You must be 18 or older by June 24th, 2024

- Willingness to work with people of all ages and skill levels required

- Any certifications or experience related to sailing, powerboating, boat maintenance, leadership,

working with children, or water safety will be strongly considered

- Availability for the duration of our rental season preferred: May through Labor Day

- Employees are given a complimentary boat rental pass when off duty

- Wage will be determined based on experience and relevant certifications, but will fall in the range of $16-18/hour

- Shifts are typically noon – 7 PM daily, with a few opportunities to work extra hours if desired

(helping with events, etc.)

- We’re looking for 2 people to work part-time and split these shifts
