PLANNED PARENTHOOD SOUTHWEST OHIO REGION JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Health Educator I DEPARTMENT: EducationREPORTS TO: Director of Education STATUS: Exempt, full timeUPDATED: August 2022 JOB SUMMARY:Prepare and present human sexuality education programs and materials that are medically-accurate, culturally aware and up-to-date. Perform in this position in accordance with the agency’s expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, and Interpersonal Relations. RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Program Development and Delivery· Work closely with the Health Educator II to deliver school-based relationship and sexual health education services on topic including healthy relationships, consent, reproductive and sexual anatomy, STIs, HIV/AIDS, safer sex, contraception, etc.· Work closely with the Community Education and Outreach Manager to deliver education services to Spanish speaking populations across the service region.· Present community-based education services to local organizations and agencies. · Create handouts, activities and other educational materials that are culturally aware and developmentally congruent for the intended audience.· Work collaboratively with the education team and external vendors to develop, schedule and deliver quarterly professional and parent trainings. 2. Community Outreach· Identify and establish contacts and actively network with community organizations, schools, and groups that serve or employ Planned Parenthood’s target population. · Represent PPSWO at community-based health fairs, events and other opportunities for PPSWO to engage with our community. 3. Grant Compliance· Document and evaluate programs in accordance with established departmental practices and prepare relevant reports and maintain files as required by PPSWO and or/funding source.· Collaborate with PPSWO team members and external partners to implement activities as assigned to complete grants. 4. Other Duties· Assist in moving the department towards the achievement of the strategic goals. · Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:· Passionate commitment to PPSWO’s mission and values related to health equity, especially centering on racial equity, and a deep sense of accountability to community. Demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on healthcare systems and care delivery.· Excellent relationship building and communication skills, including a high level of self-awareness, empathy, and humility in interpersonal interactions.· A demonstrated ability to work and build trust across cultural differences as well as to effectively communicate across differences related to race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin or ability.· High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in health promotion or related field encouraged.· Ability to work remotely. · Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) with ability to present programs and adapt written materials is required.· Experience working with teens is helpful, but not required.· Ability to facilitate sensitive subject matter in an appropriate, professional manner.· Expertise using Microsoft Office products is required.· Basic clerical and math skills required.· Ability to work with a variety of professionals and non-professionals of all ages, genders, races, religions, sexual orientation and national origin.· Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, to develop creative presentations for a variety of audiences and to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.· Ability to provide excellent internal and external costumer service.· Ability to maintain accurate records and produce reports.· Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.· Must have own transportation, necessary license and insurance. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, sit, talk, hear, stand, bend, walk; use hands and fingers, handle or operate objects, reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.Ability to get to the work site; also other PPSWO health centers and meetings when required. $40K SalaryPlanned Parenthood Southwest Ohio is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to maintaining a non-discriminatory work environment.
