This role will be mostly remote with visits to one of our offices 1x/ wk (Newport Beach, CA | Seattle, WA | Phoenix, AZ)

Overview

Planet DDS provides SaaS and mobile products for dental offices and dental groups. The Azure Senior Cloud Engineer will work to build systems to run our SaaS applications. They will increase the scalability, security, reliability, and operability of our Azure systems.

An engineer doesn’t shy away from learning something new or experimenting with technologies to find the right solution. Responsibilities & Duties

• Design & build Azure systems from architectural specifications & standards
• Automate processes with Azure Automation, PowerShell, CLI and Bicep
• Proactively expose problems & risks and develop solutions
• Azure networking in hub & spoke design with heavy reliance on PaaS & private endpoints
• Troubleshoot application & Azure issues
• Training & mentoring for peers and less experienced engineers
• Advocate for DevOps culture, automation, and architectural & security standards
• Optimize cost, performance, scalability, and reliability
• Security configuration & security hardening
• Develop Azure Monitor, Sentinel & Firewall alerts & automated actions
• Provide on call third tier support
• Root cause analysis
• Partner with software development and IT teams.
• Participate in our Agile processes
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 7 years in hands on technical roles (such as cloud engineer, cloud develops engineer, site reliability engineer, infrastructure engineer)
• 5 years of cloud experience with at least 3 years with Azure
• 3 years deploying and operating web apps.
• Strong PowerShell and Azure CLI skills
• IaC development skills with Bicep, Terraform, or ARM.
• Azure networking expertise: VNets, firewalls, VPN Gateway, App Gateway, endpoints & NSGs
• Azure PaaS experience, App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, & Redis
• Security configuration & monitoring with Azure Sentinel, Azure Firewall & Defender for Cloud
• Configuring and managing Windows VMs, VM Scale Sets and AVD
• Strong monitoring & alerting skills with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics & App Insights
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Azure public cloud knowledge from creating and working in a production environment
• Understanding how to secure systems using Azure Active Directory
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant major or equivalent years of experience
• Any of the following would be a plus:
  • Azure DevOps Expert or Solutions Architect Expert certification
  • Software development experience
  • Experience working in B2B SaaS companies
  • Experience with cloud containers, specifically Kubernetes
