Overview

Our client, a national maintenance organization, located in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly Financials with related schedules and the supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the day-to-day activities in the Accounting Department. This role outside of accounting is also responsible for payroll and working on human resource matters as they relate to the accounting department. - #LI-SF1

Essential Duties

• Work with Controller to set objectives for and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable analysts
• Oversee month end close and prepare monthly financial statements with all related schedules
• Manage and maintain the general ledger
• Prepare monthly borrowing base reports for Bank
• Assist Controller with budgeting process, audit requests and external CPA’s requests
• Oversee the weekly cash forecast and monitor cash accounts
• Review all bank reconciliations for accuracy
• Calculate quarterly commissions
• Oversee Sales and Use Tax reporting being managed by 3rdparty provider Avalara
• Supervise expense reimbursements making sure they are in line with IRS guidelines
• Assist with the recruiting and hiring of new employees
• Onboarding for new hires and exit process for terminations
• Review and maintain all payroll changes - salaries, tax setup, benefits, garnishments
• Prepare, review, and submit semi-monthly payroll and check reports for accuracy
• Post payroll journal entries to accounting system, P21
• Oversee all employee vacation requests and time-off accruals
• Work with PEO to provide HR guidance and coaching as needed
• Other projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years accounting experience
• Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
• Strong communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills
• Intermediate to advance Excel skills and strong knowledge of Accounting Software
• Critical thinker and problem solver with strong attention to detail
