The PB Learning team is a global team with teammates in Seattle, New York and London and serves all of PitchBook’s learning and development needs in a way that boosts individuals’ success. Our team is a focused, collaborative, effective and really fun group of individuals with a passion for developing people and creating effective and lasting change. This role will greatly contribute to the management, facilitation, growth and scalability of current, as well as new, learning and development programs.
PitchBook’s Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, deploying and measuring comprehensive solutions and programs to improve individual and team performance. This role partners with learning and development colleagues and key business stakeholders to develop innovative and high-impact learning programs and initiatives aligned with PitchBook’s strategic goals.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Apply adult learning theory and the neuroscience of learning to design and develop learning solutions and experiences
  • Integrate creative, immersive learning methodologies in learning experience/product design and
  • development
  • Conduct training needs analysis to inform performance objectives, instructional strategies and project scope
  • Design and develop instructionally sound learning solutions and experiences
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, content developers, program managers, PB Learning Operations and other stakeholders to implement service-oriented framework to allow dynamic content creation and curation
  • Learn multiple systems and processes quickly
  • Demonstrate good judgment and analytical problem-solving methods
  • Build and manage complex projects, partnerships and relationships
  • Communicate effectively with partners
  • Analyze quality and operations metrics/key performance indicators to identify the root causes of performance opportunities
  • Identify appropriate evaluation techniques and apply them (summative, formative, four levels, usability testing)
  • Partner with other teams to monitor completion, comprehension and retention of the content to identify training effectiveness and improvement opportunities
  • Facilitate learning using various learning delivery methodologies that achieve objectives and ensure application
  • Collaborate with PB Learning teammates and partners to provide integrated service to our client
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years in the instructional and learning experience design field
  • Demonstrated capability with eLearning software such as Storyline, Captivate or similar
  • Demonstrated experience with presentation and graphics tools (PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Demonstrated media (audio and video) skills, preferably with programs like Adobe Premiere, Audition and similar, as well as some front-end Web development
  • Apply Cloud infrastructure knowledge, APIs, communication tools to design and build engaging and effective learner experiences
  • Strong organizational skills and some facilitation ability
  • Artful relationship skills for building value with agents, team members and internal partners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult learning and various instructional design approaches and processes to the learning content
  • Access learner needs, analyze and logically organize complex information into instructionally sound training materials that excite and engage the learner
  • Run multiple, complex projects with strong project management and strong ability to multi-task and continually prioritize changing projects tasks/deliverables
  • Prefer Scrum/Agile PM experience
  • Creative thinker and self-starter with a proactive approach to resolving problems and issues
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and complete work with a high level of quality and attention to detail
  • Possess excellent grammar and writing proficiency for global English
  • Bring a customer service mentality to the work
  • Work well independently and as part of teams
  • Eager to learn, grow and build skills while working in a fast-paced environment
  • A plus if already knows proprietary learning management and other topic specific content (ex. Litmos, Workday, Cornerstone, etc.)
