PISON is Hiring a Business Program Manager Near Boston, MA

Job Summary:

You will be a highly capable manager supporting the execution of current research and development (R&D) contracts, and leading the capture and execution of the next tier of higher-revenue R&D and procurement contracts.

Pison’s government R&D contracts (most often DoD SBIR or STTR contracts) are vital for advancing Pison’s electroneurography (ENG)-based gesture control technology for integration into government acquisition programs for human-machine teaming, situational awareness, night vision devices, and augmented reality for dismounted users.

Pison is positioned for a large increase in R&D and initial procurement opportunities due to substantial support from Congressional and Department of Defense (DoD) sponsors. You will be responsible for leading our proposal organization/preparation/submission, then managing the execution of contracts won – in some cases in collaboration with a lead Principal Investigator.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory responsibility at this time, but the candidate may establish a growth path to manage projects and staff aligned with the company’s growth rate. At any time you may be asked to recruit, interview, and/or train new staff to support contract execution.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage cost, schedule, and performance of contracts to develop, deliver, and sustain ENG-based technology solutions and software applications.
  • Manage subcontractors/vendors and their scope.
  • Provide authoritative recommendations, briefings, and other formal and informal feedback and status to executive leaders and peer managers on all aspects of assigned programs.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities with functional specialists, including engineering, product management, contracting, finance, and logistics support.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional synchronization meetings between Business, Product, and Engineering teams.
  • Develop, execute, monitor, and communicate risk management strategies to address areas of concerns or potential gaps.
  • Organize contract proposal efforts, including scheduling of proposal preparation efforts, coordinating inputs from multiple personnel, critiquing the content for evaluation standards compliance, and submitting proposals in a timely manner.
  • Support the updating of Pison’s regular reporting tools (spreadsheets, etc) that illustrate pending Business capture pipelines.

Required Skills/Abilities/Experience:

  • Highly experienced in the Defense Acquisition System. Must comprehend the customers’ processes of acquisition, requirements, and budgeting that enable successful execution of their program.
  • Experience with the federal acquisition life cycle developing or managing contracts, including familiarity with Statements of Work or Performance Work Statements, cost estimates, and evaluation and performance criteria.
  • 4-plus years experience as a DoD (military or civilian) acquisition program manager.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Executive-level verbal communication skills, enabling the effective and confident explanation of project plans and progress to company leaders and team members.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and complex environment, with an ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • A working knowledge of project management processes such as Scrum and Agile.

Education and Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in a relevant occupation (business, finance, management, engineering, science, etc.)
  • DoD acquisition workforce certification (DAWIA) at Level II or III in a related field
  • Current project management credentials or certification desired but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to travel 1-2 weeks per month to the corporate office in Boston or customer locations throughout the United States.

Work Location:

  • Highly desired for the candidate to reside in the Boston area and thus be able to ensure effective cross-functional and executive-level collaboration. Alternately, the candidate may reside in the Washington DC area to be accessible to military and federal customers and decision makers.
