About This Position

This is a full-time position that works on average 40 or more hours a week. Regularly scheduled days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to the group home environment, the person in this position must be able to work some nights, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the home.
Summary
The Residential Supervisor I assumes oversight for the care, treatment, and development of residents in a licensed adult foster care home, or an unlicensed residential program.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years of experience working directly with people with developmental disabilities or an Associate’s degree and two years of experience may be substituted.
  • Two years of previous experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Computer skills including the use of email, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to read and write English, and the ability to comprehend written instructions and record information.
  • The capacity to work both independently and in a team, with intermittent supervision.
  • The ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals.
  • This employee will be required to successfully complete all required initial and update trainings.
  • This position requires driving. Individuals must have a valid Michigan driver’s license with three (3) or more years of driving experience, less than six (6) points, and no exclusionary violations on driving record.

Note: This position is required to pass all background checks, physicals, and drug screens. If the background check reveals disqualifying information, employment shall be terminated unless the disqualifying information was successfully appealed as inaccurate, expunged or set aside.

Travel Requirements
Up to 25%
A company vehicle is not supplied. Personal vehicle is required.
Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Responsibilities

  • Assure that Pioneer Standard Operating Procedures are used for all purchases. Use the Matching Principal of Accounting to review the documentation and approval process for purchases.
  • Completing and maintaining accurate notes
  • Monitor the physical health of residents, ensure that physician orders and clinical team orders are implemented; assure that appropriate dietary standards and requirements are met
  • Taking care of residents with respect
  • This position may occasionally be “hands on”, and the supervisor will need to complete the duties of direct care staff to assure the needs of the residents are met as required.
  • Work cooperatively with case managers and clinical personnel to assure residents are treated with dignity and that the plans of service reflect individual preferences and sound judgment.

Working conditions
Work Environment
This position works in close proximity to people. While the majority of working time is spent indoors in a residential environment or office, employees in this position may work outdoors in all seasons for short periods of time, e.g. assisting a resident into a vehicle, taking a resident on an outing, snow removal, etc.

Physical Demands
Light work. No more than 20 pounds with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

  • Work is mostly sedentary, but may require physical assistance with the persons served. Lifting, bending, pulling, pushing of objects may be required.
