Pine Gate Renewables is Hiring a Project Finance Associate Near Charlotte, NC

As the Project Finance Associate, you will report to the Director of Project Finance and will support the structuring and closing of renewable energy tax equity, debt, and cash equity financing transactions. You will build and utilize complex financial models to assess the economic viability of acquisition targets, perform front-end valuation and debt sizing analysis, and will quantify all sources of potential third-party capital throughout a project’s lifecycle. You will also help the day-to-day management of project finance closings as part of multi-member deal team and oversee the work of project finance analyst(s). To be successful in this role, you must be a self-starter with a keen attention to detail who is motivated to advance in a long-term project finance career. The ability to think critically and identify and resolve key issues in solar financing is highly important. You will be expected to work collaboratively with Pine Gate’s interdepartmental team members representing development, engineering, construction, and accounting as well as outside stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency of information. The work is fast paced, demanding, and intellectually stimulating. You will need to work well under pressure, have the aptitude to synthesize and distill large amounts of information, and be capable of creating innovative solutions. 

What You’ll Do

  • Build complicated structured financing models and accurately reflect terms of various financing vehicles and markets.
  • Assess the economic viability of potential acquisition, monetization, and financing opportunities by forecasting cash flows, tax impacts, and investor returns.
  • Collaborate effectively on a deal execution team to raise sponsor equity, tax equity, construction, and perm debt.
  • Independently manage financial models and third-party consultant reports, prepare marketing materials, and assist in negotiating transaction documents.
  • Coordinate with third party financing providers on due diligence and documentation.
  • Facilitate the drawdown and closing process with respect to construction debt, tax equity, permanent debt, and permanent cash equity.
  • Support senior management of Pine Gate on various financing related matters on an on-going basis.

Must-Haves

  • 3-5 years of project finance debt, equity, and or tax equity experience working within the U.S. power or infrastructure sectors
  • Experience with project finance debt, equity, and/or tax equity deal execution
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, think critically, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

Nice-to-Haves

  • Solar or renewable energy experience
  • Familiarity with tax and accounting methods

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Asheville, or Charlotte, North Carolina or New York, NY preferred but not required. 
  • If remote, up to 25% travel
