SUMMARY:
Directs and coordinates activities of the production department(s) in processing materials or contract work in workshop setting by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations. Provides bids, pricing and communication with customers.
Orders necessary raw materials with the approval of the Director of Employment. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Compiles, stores and retrieves data.
Prepares operational schedules, trains staff and coordinates workshop activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, contract work, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Inspects machines and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to the Director of Employment for action.
Recruits, hires, and trains new warehouse employees. Coaches, counsels, schedules and disciplines current warehouse employees as needed by enforcing policies and procedures.
Contributes to creating and recommending strategic plans and reviews in order to achieve operational objectives. Prepares and implements production and quality plans based around customer service standards. Resolves problems and identifies trends.
Forecasts requirements, prepares annual budgets, schedules expenditures, analyzes variances and initiates corrective actions in order to meet financial objectives of the warehouse.
Determines product handling and storage requirements to develop warehouse operations systems. Develops, implements, evaluates and enforces policies and procedures. Develops processes for receiving product, utilizing equipment, managing inventory and shipping product.
Develops and implements effective warehouse layout that accounts for product flow, equipment and product handling systems.
Establishes, follows and enforces safety standards and procedures in compliance with a healthy/safe work environment and legal requirements.
Develops protection and access policies and coordinates security patrols to keep the property secure.
Participates in ongoing education to update job knowledge.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages subordinate supervisor who supervises a number of Direct Support Professionals and up to 100 consumer employees in the Workshops. Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with persons with disabilities is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Florida Driver’s License in good standing is required and must be maintained for continued employment.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Computer literate or willing to learn Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, e-mail, inventory system, time clock operations, time study operation and other software systems as necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
