Job Summary.
The IT Support Specialist is the direct client liaison for technical services. The technician is responsible for installation, repair, maintenance, and upgrades of computer hardware for PIN’s MSP clients. The technician should also be able to advise and recommend regarding maintenance options and upgrade opportunities as necessary.
Essential Functions.
· Communicate regularly and effectively with clients regarding needs and recommendations.
· Execute all aspects of installation, repair, maintenance, and upgrades of computer hardware, including everything from physical cleaning of components to detailed software diagnosis.
· Run network cables, trace network ports, install and maintain switches, routers, wireless access points, etc. as part of installing physical network functions.
· Recommend preventative actions, maintenance options, and upgrade opportunities to clients as necessary.
· Evaluate end user requests and self-diagnostics, collating and assessing data to develop recommendations to mitigate problems, promote efficiency, and enhance security.
· Be available for occasional late evening, weekend, or holiday work.
· Occasionally meet with potential clients and assist with closing of new business.
· Travel up to 25% of time.
· Lifting or moving equipment and furniture as necessary.
· Some climbing, crawling, kneeling, etc. in the course of performing services.
· Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Candidate Requirements.
· Reliable transportation
· 3 years of onsite business technical support experience
· Ability to handle multiple client sites with 20-100 end users per site
· Daily event and progress reporting
· Hardware Knowledge/Experience: internal components of workstations and servers, including motherboards, CPUs, TAM, hard drives, video cards, I/O controllers, optical drives, and cooling systems; accessories including key boards, pointing devices, scanners, printers, monitors/video devices, and I/O devices; networking devices including managed/unmanaged switches, routers, wireless devices, and security devices; assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of all hardware components.
· Software Knowledge/Experience: all currently available Windows operating systems, including installation, recovery, configuration, and updates; Apple MacOS and iOS operating systems and software, including re-installation, recovery, configurations, and updates; installation, setup, monitoring, and updating endpoint protection software including security suites/anti-virus, firewall, and IDS/IPS software; most major software applications including Microsoft Office (full installation and Office 365 subscriptions), Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Adobe products, Java, etc.; server applications such as Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server
· Technical Knowledge/Experience: operating systems and hardware components; removal of viruses, spyware, and malware; troubleshooting skills in failed hardware identification
· Able to lift 50 lbs.
