The Chief of Staff acts as a “senior dynamic resource” who actively helps the President MSO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) drive business performance reviews, operational improvements, design/implement OKRs and balanced scorecards, accelerate strategic projects, build and refine business cases, support the implementation of robust management systems, and contribute to other strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

The Chief of Staff will directly support the MSO and Operations team. They will be expected to perform within the following scope, as well as other assigned duties and activities that aid and leverage our Team function. Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  •  Develop and maintain awareness and understanding of the President’s portfolio, including the strategic direction, program initiatives, and operational projects
  •  Work directly with the President to prepare business cases, strategy materials, steering committee materials, PMO project updates, etc. 
  •  Act as the performance improvement team lead as part of the PMO to establish best practices and execution of strategic initiatives. Coordinating with senior operations leaders to ensure strategic goals are achieved and effectively communicated to executives and sponsors
  • Act as a “business value accelerator” by joining project teams to augment the teams or close potential talent gaps among team members. Drive improved business case development; refine project charters, drive better decision-making, keep the President apprised of critical issues, have insights to potential risk
  • Coordinate and develop materials and agendas for operational business reviews, manage follow-ups and support ELT members or operational leaders on preparation
  • Attend meetings with, and in some circumstances, on behalf of the President. Act as a meeting scribe, facilitator, or active participant as required
  • Prepare, edit, or augment presentations, pre-reads, full slide decks, white papers, and business case materials to be sent to the ELT, sponsors, and other audiences
  • Build, maintain, and liaise productive and highly collaborative relationships with team members, leaders, and executives
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop, track, and target team-wide success metrics across all operational lines of business, departments, and shared services
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Education & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a similar field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job
  • Master’s degree or MBA, preferred
  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in a business role such as project management, corporate development, financial analysis, or management consulting
  • Either:
    • 7 years of professional experience in corporate development, financial analysis, or as a management consultant, leading strategic and/or operational transformation firm -OR-
    • 10 years of progressively senior experience as a leader in healthcare, managed care provider, clinician network, payor network, MSO, independent physician association, or similar
  • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments
  • Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of the business environment
  • Ability to clearly understand the business objectives and performance drivers
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills; must be comfortable communicating with senior-level management
  • STRONG critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize various deliverables
  • Ability to work independently, but also part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: credible, consistent, active listening, confident but fully cognizant of one’s own strengths versus development needs
  • Professional, discreet, mature judgment
