Job Summary

The Firmware Engineers (FE) main responsibility is for the firmware of embedded HMI panels and configurable IPC systems. The FE conducts or participates in multidisciplinary research and collaborates with product designers and/or hardware engineers in the design and development of Electronic Systems and as well System Software. Designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging of system firmware. The FE works closely with other design teams and is responsible for all software and firmware related issues during the planning, development, and validation stages of the program.

Key Responsibilities

• Final Approval testing of base firmware provided by technology partners.
• Firmware customization and design for new Hardware
• Creates and reviews specifications for configurable IPC Systems and HMI panels.
• Recommending possible implementations for software system.
• Lead of base firmware architecture to support production and assembly.
• Validating firmware for each IPC system configuration.
• Using firmware tools to customize configurable IPC solutions.
• The FE creates and reviews Hardware specifications for special System requirements. like for example special industrial hardware that needs support from the firmware.
• The FE should be efficient in trouble shooting software or hardware related issues.
• Bring up, test and do system integration including documentation.
• Work with multiple site engineering teams to monitor and implement product specifications.

Must-Have Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field or comparable experience.
• Experience in building open-source embedded OS and software for complex hardware systems
• Experience in leading firmware architecture for embedded devices and PCs
• Experience of developing system specifications and implementing them in firmware
• Experience of multiple PC standards (ACPI, PCIe, SATA, USB, SMBIOS, vBios, traditional and UEFI/EFI Bios etc.)
• Experience in working on remote teams, including external companies located outside the US, with the flexibility to adapt to diverse cultures, time zones, and related factors is desirable
• Should have a track record of accomplishments in system design, influencing people, PC technologies, and technical product development is highly desirable
• Must have a solid experience in Firmware development in C/C

Essential Job Functions

• Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Some ability in spoken/written Chinese Mandarin is helpful.
• Must be able to travel via airplane, domestic and international.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
