The Business Analyst (BA) will serve as the subject matter expert for Business Intelligence and Data & Analytics Services within the Business Initiatives team. As a member of the Business Initiatives team, the individual will focus on maximizing impact, growth and profitability by (i) creating financial analysis to identify opportunities and support sale of Phlow’s products and services; (ii) working closely with the team to guide portfolio funnel development; (iii) building financial models to drive strategic and planning processes (iv) managing data and databases to support decision making, including third-party competitive intelligence resources and (v) evaluating new business development opportunities.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Pharmaceutical product (API and FDP) funnel development: Develop business case evaluations for new product considerations. Includes data analysis related to market and comparable product performance as well as product characteristic information gathering and analysis, competitive analysis, prospective business development partner analysis, and customer analysis. Develop insights and recommendations, and then summarize / present extensive information within concise executive summaries.
• Support contract development and manufacturing business: Maintain customer segmentation master database of small molecules in development; conduct ad hoc competitive intelligence of in-market services and pricing.
• Customer and market forecasting and scenario analysis: Utilize data sources as well as qualitative inputs to develop demand forecasts. Incorporates sensitivity analysis to develop different scenarios based on key assumption levers.
• Pricing & Margin Analysis: Support product pricing determinations through product and operations financial analysis. Includes views of direct and indirect expenses, gross margins, contribution margins, and return on investment metrics.
• Financial Modeling: Develops financial models for both shared services, as well as operations, commercial initiatives, and government initiatives to support business decisions.
• Market & Industry Research: Utilizes data sources to perform deep industry research, advising leadership on current market and product trends. Focuses on the current state as well as future developments.
• Detailed Strategic Planning: Develops strategic framework for profitability analysis for various product lines. Supports annual planning and business reviews.

Experience & Qualifications

• 2 years of prior business and financial analysis experience (ideally includes experience in portfolio and market analysis)
• Pharmaceutical or other healthcare product experience preferred. Knowledge of the US generics pharmaceutical industry with a high-level understanding of US generics regulatory process such as DMF and ANDA approvals is ideal.
• Strong written, communication, and presentation skills. Well versed in PowerPoint and able to develop and present executive-level presentations. Support decision making; excellence in translating data into a story (from Excel to PowerPoint)
• Analytical thinking and problem solving. Able to derive insights / conclusions from data and willing to make recommendations
• Experience developing financial models and business forecasts. Scenario modeling with financial forecasting
• Excellent PowerPoint, Excel, Word skills
• Proficient using SQL and Python
• Fundamental understanding of analytical and statistical methods used to make data-informed business decisions
• Data management and data extraction / manipulation skills. Experience with third party data systems (Symphony, IQVIA, Cortellis, PriceRX experience a plus)
• Experience conducting product, market and customer analysis. Must be comfortable with diverse range (ex: API, FDP, contract development services, multiple markets and customer bases)
• Scenario modeling with financial forecasting
• Ability to create presentations and story telling

Education & Certifications

• A minimum of bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Marketing. Graduate degree in data analytics or MBA is preferred.
