Philbrook Museum of Art is a vibrant cultural institution in Tulsa, Oklahoma that typically welcomes over 120,000 visitors each year. Oklahoma is home to 39 Native nations—the most of any in the United States—representing various cultural regions including the Eastern Woodlands and Plains, among others. Tulsa has one of the highest percentages of Native populations in the country and is at a confluence of three tribes: Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek), and Osage.

A 1920s Italianate Villa nestled in 25 acres of designed gardens, Philbrook features a dynamic and ambitious program of rotating exhibitions and galleries with selections from an actively growing collection of approximately 16,000 objects, about 5,000 of which are from Native North American artists. With artworks from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe dating from 3,000 BCE to today, Philbrook is Oklahoma’s most comprehensive art museum and offers visitors a glimpse into a broad range of cultures, time periods, and perspectives. Position Overview

We are currently seeking part-time Security Officers to join our team! In this role, you are primarily responsible for patrolling the building and grounds to observe visitors and art; providing customer service and demonstrating the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. As a security officer, you will circulate frequently through scheduled posts (interior and exterior) protecting the building and its contents from potential losses, theft, or vandalism, and ensuring the safety of staff and visitors. You are expected to model behaviors consistent with Philbrook’s continued effort to ensure the Museum is a safe, welcoming, accessible, and inclusive venue, in alignment with its brand and mission.

Requirements

What You Will Do:

• Safeguard staff, visitors, artwork, and other museum property by physically patrolling assigned areas
• Actively greet and observe visitors 
• Responds to emergency situations such as fire, evacuation plan implementation, or employee and visitor injuries in a calm, problem solving manner
• Monitors premises during events to ensure safety and security of all museum patrons
• Completes detailed incident and accident reports
• Provides exceptional customer service to all guests and staff by creating an enjoyable museum experience
• Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property, and monitors crowds
• Maintain technical working knowledge of, and closely monitor all security systems
• Respond to emergency situations according to museum policy
• Build strong relationships with colleagues across the institution
• Provide the highest level of customer service
• Maintains prompt and reliable attendance in order to successfully perform the duties of the job

What You Will Bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three years’ customer facing experience.

Qualifications:

• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain clam in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.
• Strong customer service experience in a public setting.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Professional attitude and pleasant demeanor with colleagues, volunteers, members, and donors.
• Must be able to stand and walk 55% of time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates degree or technical education in safety and security.
• IFCPP, CIPS, or CLEET trained and certified.
• First aid/CPR/AED trained.

Work Schedule: 16-20 hours per week Friday - Sunday; availability to work evening and weekend events as needed
