Description
Monitor Food Safety Programs (Kosher, GFCO (Gluten-Free), Organic, Non-GMO, etc.). Provide support and supervision of production staff to ensure program requirements are met. Ensure program deviations are investigated and corrective / preventive actions are implemented.
Manage sampling, testing, and release of incoming material. Manage finished product release by:
Monitor plant activities (production, sanitation, maintenance, etc.). Conduct internal audits and follow up on corrective / preventive actions for findings.
Communicate food safety / quality information to production staff.
Train production employees on QA topics.
Monitor laboratory (cleanliness, and testing equipment (calibrations).
Assist in preparing for third party audits.
Provide QA support to other departments. This position has interaction with internal departments, including Customer Service, Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Logistics.
Other assignments as deemed appropriate and related to duties by the QA Supervisor and/or Manager.
Requirements
4-year College Degree from Accredited University. BS in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field preferred.
Experience in food industry. Familiar with Kosher Program, Gluten Free, Organic Non-GMO, BRC, State Certifications, Allergen Program, Environmental Monitoring Program, HACCP Program and Sanitation.
Chemical & Micro lab experiences a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, Access.
Knowledge in the areas of SSOP’s, GMPs, FDA/USDA regulations, microbiology etc. Ability to maintain HACCP Programs. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to read, understand, interpret, and follow-through accurately and thoroughly. Strong communication skills: read; write articulate, etc. complex concepts to ensure appropriate interpretation. Strong technical capabilities and problem resolving skills.
