PGH Wong Engineering, Inc. is Hiring a Resident Engineer Near Los Angeles, CA

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the day to day activities of the OE and Field Inspection Team
  • Review in-coming letters, develop draft content for out-going letters,
  • Coordinate with the Contractor’s Construction team and Metro’s / MPPC staff in the identification and resolution of construction issues.
  • Supervise OE, and Inspection staff. Monitor Construction work for compliance to contract, schedule, budget, and contract requirements
  • Review Daily Inspection Report and help to resolve any issues with Field Reporting
  • Coordinate and obtain pre-approval for any overtime for Inspection staff.
  • Coordinate with the OE to verify that the T: drive has the latest IFC Drawings, CWPs and RFIs for the current construction activities
  • Verify OE is maintaining a true log for Current Status construction documents (e.g. drawings and specifications).
  • Review and help to expediate field changes.
  • Conduct regular Field Visits
  • Review contractor Request for Change, and when appropriate assist LACMTA Contracting Officer and Director of Construction Management in the preparation and negotiations of contractorders/modifications and provisional sums.
  • Communicate and help implement safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of LACMTA’s safety vision.
  • Validate Monthly Pay Application.
  • Participate in the review of all Submittals, RFIs, RFCs related to Parking Structure work, and verify responses are timely and accurate.
  • Review monthly schedule and track and evaluate schedule concerns.
  • Coordinate and support other Metro departments such as the 3rdPartyand Community Relations Team. Other duties as assigned by the Construction Manager (Design-Build) or assigned Sr. Metro Director of Construction Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or other related field.
  • At least fifteen (15) years of experience in Construction Management of Large Complex Heavy Civil Engineering projects.
  • Approximately five (5) years of supervisory experience in the management of Major Construction Contracts.
  • Valid California Class C driver’s license.
  • State of California Professional Engineering registration or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
