This position will provide front-line primary technical support to end-users on various technical issues and problems relating to hardware, software, networking, and audio-video equipment. This position will be responsible for responding to, documenting, and resolving service tickets promptly. The IT Analyst must have excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose, evaluate, and resolve complex problem situations, or when appropriate escalate or route them to appropriate IT staff members.

The incumbent will perform root cause analysis, develop documentation for typical problems and recommend procedures and controls for problem prevention. This position will support multiple platforms including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and videoconferencing equipment. This position may require independent work, sharing information, and assisting others with project work.

This is a full-time staff, 12-month, exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for all information technology products and services.
  • Receive information technology help calls from a variety of users utilizing Pfeiffer University information technology products including faculty, staff, and students.
  • Answer questions, troubleshoot, teach or instruct end-users regarding software or hardware functionality.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, analyze, and solve software, hardware, and telecommunication problems. Resolve support requests and escalate complex and/or high-priority problems to the appropriate support groups for resolution.
  • Provide training and instruction to users and IT staff members.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, and monitor end-user workstations and software.


  • Degree from a two-year technical college with a major in computer science, information technology or related area. Related information technology experience may be substituted year-for-year for the required education.
  • Two years in the information technology field related to the position's role.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina drivers license.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
