Peraton is currently seeking skilled and qualified candidates for their cloud engineer opportunity.

The candidate will work as a cloud engineer as part of an enterprise cloud services team supporting the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) at the Department of Labor (DOL). In this role, the candidate will work in an operational environment provisioning, maintaining, and decommissioning cloud Infrastructure services and perform troubleshooting / issue resolution, and improvement activities for cloud infrastructure used across the agency. As part of the OCIO Cloud Services team, the candidate will work directly with agency customers to understand the cloud service requirements and using best practices and experience to provide solutions that align with the standards and offerings of the cloud services team. In addition, the candidate will be supporting the evolution of the DOL multi account architecture.

The OCIO Cloud Services team’s focus is on providing cloud infrastructure and does not perform application DevOps. Application DevOps is managed by other teams.

The candidate responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Responsibilities:

• Working directly with agency customers to understand the customer’s cloud requirements and providing solutions that align with the standards and offerings of the DOL cloud services team
• Developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deploying cloud resources to accounts in an AWS Organizations multi account architecture
• Addressing and resolving operational incidents and alerts using tools including Service Now, SolarWinds, AWS Health, AWS Security Hub, Azure Defender, Cloud Watch Alarms
• Monitoring Cloud overall health and address/identify issues and address with cloud services team and/or cloud customers to resolve
• Responding to customer’s Service Now tasks and change requests for provisioning, modifying, troubleshooting, and decommissioning cloud services
• Packaging new Unix and Windows images provided by on-prem teams for use in the cloud environments
• Supporting cloud improvement and standardization activities using Jira, and two-week SCRUM sprints (e.g., multi account, multi-account service monitoring improvements, deployment pipeline, etc.)

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 12-15 years related experience or MS degree and 10-13 years related experience, or HS Diploma/equivalent with minimum 16 years related experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• Must have at least 4 years of experience in cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or other public cloud services with an emphasis on AWS experience
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in DevOps Engineering including Jenkins, Ansible, Kubernetes, or other automation
• Must have at least 2 years of experience with writing and deploying Cloud Formation Templates (CFT), Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Templates, or Terraform to provision cloud infrastructure
• Must have at least 1 years of Python scripting experience to support tools, monitoring, Lambda function development
• Must have a least one Cloud certification at the associate level or higher in AWS
• Experience working directly with customers to understand the customer’s cloud requirements and providing cloud infrastructure solutions
• Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, and similar toolsets for workflow management
• Experience with SolarWinds, Splunk, and similar tools for logging and monitoring toolsets
• Experience working in an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree
• 5 years of Cloud Engineering experience
• 3 years of DevOps Engineering experience
• Experience working with cloud services in operations environments
• Experience using modern build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Docker, EKS, etc.
• Experience with modern relational databases like Postgres, MySQL, Redshift, SQL Server
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with agile teams
• AWS/Cloud networking experience
