Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a Network Operations (NetOps) Manager, in Alexandria, VA. The NetOps Manager is responsible for managing a team of 8-10 Network Engineers engaged in the development and operational support of a mission critical, high op-tempo, secure communications and control system. The system provides secure video, IP-Phone, and fax to executive government officials on a 24/7 basis with on-call support from the NetOps team. In addition to operational monitoring and support, the NetOps team will be assigned configuration and support responsibilities for task orders and deliveries. The position will also include the management of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones, call managers, and gateways.

Responsible for the following leadership items:

• Group Leader provides leadership, management, direction, and technical oversight for Network Engineers of approximately 10 persons
• Maintains proper staffing levels and expertise to meet business and contractual objectives through the effective planning and execution of projects and programs
• Provides staffing schedules for 24/7 Test operations
• Meets functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention and overall management of the departments
• Develops and conducts work programs in accordance with the company's policies, priorities, and budget constraints
• Reports directly to the Operations Manager and works with the rest of the group leaders in the organization to achieve common goals

Typical Tools and devices used by the NetOps team:

• SolarWinds (NMN, CM, toolset), RealVnc, IssueTrak (ticket system).
• Cisco Call Manager (CUCM), Cisco ISE, Juniper Junos, Variphy
• Direct use and management of: Cisco Routers and switches, Juniper firewalls and border routers, Cisco phones and Codecs, mobile devices, crypto
• Indirect use of: Splunk, Palo Alto, workstations/servers, IP-fax machines, Cisco TMS, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education/Experience: BS degree with 10-12 years of experience; MS with 8-10 years, or Phd 5-7 years. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 10 years of experience leading large Network Operations and Network Engineers
• Excellent customer service skills for direct interaction with internal and external teams
• Must have proven ability to support network infrastructure solutions of similar scope
• Implementation and troubleshooting experience of networks using concepts/protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, MPLS VPNs and emerging concepts such as Software Defined Networking
• Experience with LAN and datacenter technologies such as Ethernet, Spanning Tree Protocol, First Hop Redundancy protocols
• 8570 compliance with a minimum of Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE), or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification
• This position requires the candidate to already have a current ACTIVE TS/SCI security clearance and to maintain the clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exceptional verbal, written (including the development of procedural documentation), interpersonal, and presentation skills desired
• Experience with network and performance management tools, security tools and appliances, layer two technologies, wireless communications, cloud computing and telecommunications services and technologies is preferred
• Experience working in a telecommunications carrier environment performing large-scale mission critical network implementations is a plus
• Self-driven and resourceful in achieving goals independently as well as in cooperation with others
• Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities
• The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations, and gather team consensus to move forward
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals such as network protocols and common services (e.g., DNS, FTP, SSH, SNMP)
• Previous experience supporting a Government and/or Department of Defense customer
• Experience with application of DoD IAVAs, DISA STIGs, and NIST security controls
