Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our growing team! Thew ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert and second tier technical support and analysis to field engineers and technicians. Provides technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration or enhancement of Company technical products, programs and systems. Tests, trains and fields support to customers regarding technical aspects of designated systems and services. Provides expertise for the resolution of technical problems, troubleshoots products and modifies products to customer requirements. Maintains network stability through advanced troubleshooting, timely resolution of incidents, and proactive maintenance to provide the maximum availability and optimal Mean Time To Repair. Provides training to customers. Travel is frequent and work is generally performed at the customer site. Reviews system and network configurations to ensure successful implementation of services into production. Provides expert and second tier technical support for the installation and repair of complex systems and outages. Partners with developers and engineers to reduce re-occurring incidents. Provides consultative assistance during off hours as needed. Senior level knowledge of designated systems. Answers questions about installation, operation, configuration, customization and usage of designated systems and services. Applies senior diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions to correct common failures.
Additonal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs ITS equipment, including but not limited to CCTV cameras, modems, lane control systems, lighting systems, radio and network communication systems, dynamic message signs, fiber-optic communications, emergency power solutions, lowering devices, and other support systems,
- Provides direction on ITS field work to other field maintenance personnel,
- Coordinates with Peraton management and KYTC representatives to prioritize ITS equipment diagnosis, repair, equipment upgrades, and functionality,
- Coordinates the work of subcontractors that perform specific, on-site technical work and coordinates with vendors, utility providers, and other entities as directed by management,
- Coordinates traffic support with KYTC and KYTC contractors as needed,
- Schedules inspections, maintenance, repair, and replacement of ITS equipment as needed,
- Coordinates prior approval of contractor services and payment of vendors through Peraton or KYTC as directed,
- Participates in status meetings and briefings,
- Completes maintenance-related reports for recordkeeping and analysis,
- Enters data in maintenance software as directed by management,
- Ensures adherence to quality standards, and
- Reviews project deliverables.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or be a green card holder
- Must have a HS Diploma or GED and 14 Years' experience, or Kentucky State Master Electrical License plus 15 years of experience.
- Possesses current knowledge and continues to develop expertise in ITS systems and equipment including but not limited to CCTV cameras, modems, lane control systems, lighting systems, radio and network communication systems, dynamic message signs, fiber-optic communications, emergency power solutions, lowering devices, and other support system
- Visual acuity to see and repair ITS equipment in the field and to check for damage to mounting hardware or system devices, including during all types of weather and during hours of darkness, Ability to identify various cable and wire colors
- Possesses good oral and written communication skill
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of work experience in maintenance and repair of ITS equipment in the field
- Can analyze, identify, and prioritize ITS device issues on a system-wide basis and restore services across a wide area in a logical and efficient manner,
- Experienced in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing ITS systems and equipment, including but not limited to, CCTV cameras, modems, lane control systems, lighting systems, radio and network communication systems, dynamic message signs, fiber-optic communications, emergency power solutions, lowering devices, and other support systems
- Trained and experienced in fiber optic troubleshooting, repair, and use of documentation and drawings, OTDR, light meters, and mechanical and fusion splicing and materials
- Training and certification in maintenance and repair of traffic signals and/or certification in maintenance and repair of roadway lighting, and
- Completion of the FHWA National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training Program.

Target Salary Range
