We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to support our Huntsville / Redstone Arsenal location.

The Data Engineer serves as the principal architect of a large and complex enterprise data management platform that enables data-driven decision making by collecting, transforming, and publishing data. The Data Engineer should be able to design, build, operationalize, secure, and monitor data processing systems with a particular emphasis on security and compliance; scalability and efficiency; reliability and fidelity; and flexibility and portability.

Duties Include:

• Responsible for the design, implementation, and operational support of databases and distributed test collaboration environment.
• Design and implement all aspects of the data base environment to include provisioning, scale, monitoring, and security.
• Provide guidance in infrastructure migration methodologies for multiple application movements into the data base.
• Responsible for maintenance of data environment to ensure resources are used efficiently and upgrades provide minimal down time.
• Ensure all technical solutions adhere to security and compliance best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 2-5 years’ experience setting up extract, transform and load (ETL) and Data Pipelines.
• 2-5 years’ experience with data lake and data warehouse implementations.
• 2-5 years’ experience designing and implementing reporting and visualization for unstructured and structure data sets.
• Ability to perform data modeling, including mining, cleaning, analysis and making recommendations based on the data
• Experience with data lake and data warehouse techniques
• Experience with relational and non-relational data base programming language, preferably SQL and NoSQL.
• Ability to design and test data base designs
• Familiarity with security aspects of database development, including implementing cybersecurity measures
• Experience developing database schema and consolidating data from disparate sources
• Ability to validate and authenticate data
• Must be authorized to work in the US.
• Must be able to obtain and hold a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Hybrid work schedule is available but must be able to work on site in Huntsville when needed.

Desired Skills:

• Experience designing and developing data cleansing routines utilizing typical data quality functions involving standardization, transformation, rationalization, linking and matching.
• Knowledge of data, master data, and metadata related standards, processes, and technology.
• Knowledge of as program languages such as Java, Python, C/C , C#, JavaScript, etc.
• Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools.
• DoD Approved Cloud Certification for Administrators (i.e., Azure Solutions Architect)
• Bonus: Experience with Army data systems
