Job Summary

Knowledgeable of natural gas regulation and over pressurization protection including (but not limited to) gas regulation and relief design standards, city gate station design, transmission interconnects, over-pressurization protection devices & configurations, design and/or analyses, transmission pipeline design, estimating & project management, project leadership, quality process/compliance, budget/cost management, schedule adherence, and interactions with affected groups or individuals internal and external to Peoples. 

Job Duties:

  • Engineering design, cost estimating, and project management for regulator stations, interconnects and transmission line projects, including use of supporting software programs and databases.
  • Lead, direct and review regulator station, interconnect and large diameter pipeline projects designed by outside engineering contractors to ensure adherence to PNG and regulatory guidelines and codes. Work with Engineering department members and outside consultants to develop a portfolio of construction ready projects to meet program needs.
  • Provide communication and coordination for Regulator Station, Interconnect and transmission line projects with other PNG departments including Construction, Logistics, GMR, Land, and Supply Chain to ensure optimal project completion.
  • Continually monitor procedures and practices to identify opportunities to improve overall process results.
  • Provide engineering and technical direction to Technicians, Engineering Clerks, etc.
  • Track Regulator station projects to monitor status and ensure timely close-out in SAP and with the GIS department. Track actual costs verses estimated costs.
  • Continually monitor engineering/operations technology changes related to gas regulation for operational and economic application to business.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, practices, and regulations for all departments as it relates to Gas regulation and OPP
  • Routinely review and update SOPs, Job Procedures and applicable manuals related to Regulator station design in coordination with Engineering team members and all other applicable departments.
  • Regularly direct Technicians, Engineers, contractors, etc. supporting or providing a service with regulator stations, interconnects or pipeline matters.
  • Control and/or monitor activities or projects from the office and occasionally from field locations.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Highly advanced knowledge of applicable policies, practices, and procedures as well as federal, state codes, and PUC rules and regulations, and specific knowledge of the discipline (see Experience/Education).
  • Highly exceptional skills in Microsoft or applicable software, engineering formulas, databases, and related calculations.
  • Top level analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Effective leadership and team skills, including written/verbal communications and interpersonal relationships.
  • Basic Qualifications

    Experience/ Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Gas Distribution, Operations, and/or Engineering.
  • Highly experienced in natural gas interconnects, regulating stations, OPP, and related fields such as SCADA, Telemetry
  • Top level project management skills with capability to manage multiple diverse projects.
  • Demonstrated skill in presenting information in a concise, economic-based manner.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a field providing advanced analytical education required.
  • Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive Company Vehicles.
