Position Summary:
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for the leadership of application development based projects in a highly visible and fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with a large cross-functional team of resources (30 people) across the enterprise to deliver assigned initiatives on time and within budget. The Project Manager will utilize their expertise of the software development life cycle, along with excellent communication skills to provide direction to the project team.
Essential Job Functions:
As a Technical Project Manager, you will lead projects that deliver key capabilities to Penn Foster applications. Your teams will solve complex problems through your leadership in applying your project management, systems engineering, and people skills. Your Technical Project Manager career will challenge you to apply your skills across the Penn Foster enterprise.
This Technical Project Manager role will be highly focused on the implementation of Penn Foster’s new ERP product. Knowledge and experience with ERP products, data migrations and mergers is highly desirable.
Technical Project Managers drive critical technology programs and turn user needs into operating capabilities. Your responsibilities involve integration of programmatic, technical, systems engineering, business, and personnel elements of project, including:
Defining requirements
• Tailoring and applying program management and systems engineering processes
• Leading technical and programmatic decisions
• Leading diverse teams (i.e., multiple domains, across geographies, potential partners involved) to deliver integrated solutions that achieve measurable business results
• Developing, and managing cost and schedule
• Understanding the financial profitability of projects - revenue, costs, etc.
• Providing project and program reports to the executive team
• Driving project process change
• Estimating level of effort and project costs
• Managing incoming requests from Penn Foster management team
• Managing updates of releases and demos to Penn Foster executive and management teams
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields or related studies:
• Engineering
• Computer Science
• Information Systems
• Business
Master’s degree preferred
Certified Scrum Master or Product Owner preferred
Skills and Abilities
• 5 years of Project and Program Management
• Previous experience in a large organization/consultancy is highly desired
• Experience in managing complex IT projects with teams of 30 , must have been part of multiple full project lifecycles
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously (preferably in an integrated program)
• Led a Business Design and a Technical Design phase
• Led teams with multiple discipline representation (especially technology, user/creative experience, and business/end users)
• Experience managing MS .Net projects
• Familiarity with Agile and Iterative Development (or other recent PM methodologies)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to work independently and in a group
• Self-starter attitude with initiative
• Creativity
• Ability to solve complex problems
