Position Summary:

Penn Foster is seeking an experienced full stack software engineer to join the product engineering team building user-centered, data-driven products for learners. Penn Foster is undergoing a platform transformation, consolidating multiple education brands onto the Microsoft stack while also introducing new capabilities. As a software engineer on the product development team, your work will directly enable learners to achieve their potential, helping people get better jobs by bridging the gap between education and employment. The ideal candidate brings a passion for the mission, technology, and software development best practices.

Essential Job Functions:

• Invest in the growth of yourself by being curious, seeking opportunities to learn and improve, and sharing feedback, even when its uncomfortable
• Participate in feature development, code reviews, and architecture discussions
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, performant, well tested code
• Collaborate with teammates, Product, and Design to deliver customer focused features by breaking down the features into descriptive development tasks and associating level of effort estimates
• Have a strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Work in an Agile Scrum development environment
• Make data-driven decision
• Monitor and improve upon the performance of solutions

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Goal oriented engineer with a product and customer focus
• Full stack software development experience with SQL, .Net, React, and GraphQL
• Experience with Git and the Atlassian suite of tools
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot production issues
• Curious and creative problem solver
• Excellent collaborator with proven experience working in a cross-function team including Product Management, Design, and business stakeholders
• Self-starter mindset who takes the initiative to work independently, while also keeping team members in the loop
• Excellent communicator
• Experience with domain driven design, event driven architecture and microservices
