Penn Foster is Hiring a Remote SEO Specialist

Position Summary:

We are seeking an SEO Specialist to join our team to help us continue to rank for the job training programs we offer. You should have a deep understanding of Google’s algorithms, thorough knowledge of SEO best practices, and strong technical and writing skills. Our team of four is a close-knit bunch working together to deliver top-notch solutions and empower each other. We are passionate about our work and like to have fun while doing it! As a member of our team, you will work closely with our large Marketing Department (about 70 total individuals) to create the ideal user experience for all our prospective and current students.

Our group of experienced SEOs share ideas, make suggestions, and collaborate openly with one another. None of us are above mundane tasks and all share a strong team-first mentality. We all juggle several projects at once and both ask and give help when needed. We care deeply for one another and that is strongly grounded in our work, helping us achieve even more, collectively. To succeed on our team, you must be able to work well independently and take initiative while being curious, asking lots of questions, and always striving to grow and learn.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Create and execute SEO action plans 
  • Review and understand overall digital marketing strategy in addition to SEO strategy and goals  
  • Create action plans on SEO strategy and goals and execute in a timely manner 
  • Produce weekly reports on SEO action plan execution and status 
  1. Manage SEO performance tracking and analytics
  • Own our toolset (seoClarity, Moz, SEMrush, GA, GSC) to ensure we are reporting accurately and getting the most out of our investments
  • Closely monitor overall SEO performance for our tracked keywords, reporting both internally to our team and externally to others 
  • Monitor technical SEO status to identify problem areas as well as optimizations (with a strong emphasis on Core Web Vitals and Page Speed)
  • Work across functions on implementing all technical and content-based optimizations 
  • Work with our Content team to keep on-page optimization sharp and up to date 
  • Collaborate with UX developers and Web Analytics on optimization projects to improve user engagement 
  • Independently or with the support of our Strategy and Analytics team, develop the reporting that will allow you to know - on a daily basis – what is driving the performance of our portfolio 
  1. Produce monthly reports with insights for actionable SEO opportunities
  • Use internal and external data to provide the marketing and management teams with performance reports, by program, along with plans and recommendations to drive continued growth across portfolio 
  1. Clearly communicate on portfolio performance
  • From C-suite to teammates, you will ensure that the Penn Foster team has the right level of insights into current performance, short- and long-term expectations and plans to support growth 
  1. Stay on top of all SEO trends  
  • Keep the team up to date on what’s happening in the Search industry from algorithm updates to new trends 
  • Share relevant information with the SEO team and beyond  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  

  • 1- 3 years of SEO experience 
  • Thorough understanding of performance marketing, conversion and customer acquisition 
  • Google Analytics and Search Console required 
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS required – JavaScript a huge plus 
  • Experience with SEO analytics tools (seoClarity, Moz, SEMrush, etc.) a huge plus 
  • Experience in Education SEO a huge plus
  • Experience with Sitecore a huge plus 
  • Additional online marketing experience a plus (SEM, social, email, display, analytics)
