Position Description
Penguin is searching for a Licensed Electrician who will provide leadership and technical expertise for a photovoltaic installation team. In this position, the Licensed Electrician will communicate the necessary job status data to the Penguin operations management team to assure the successful operation of complete and working systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- The Electrician is responsible for installing residential and light commercial photovoltaic (PV) systems
- Replace and upgrade main service panels for residences
- The Electrician provides excellent service and ensuring a positive customer experience
- Install electrical service equipment, wiring, and devices required for the installation of residential and light commercial solar PV systems
- Install projects as contracted and designed
- Obtain all required materials to complete assigned project, including renting special construction equipment
- All electrical work meets or exceeds current National Electrical Code as well as local jurisdiction requirements
- Build residential PV and energy storage systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical component and system issues in AC circuits
- Lead safety efforts for work best practices with the Field Operations team
- Review project packets for completeness and accuracy
- Ensure a quality installation experience for the customer
- Oversee and effectively communicate with local inspectors
- Work independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Reports directly to the Branch Manager
Qualifications & Experience
- Journeyman card holder (or near completion)
- Residential Electrician
- Residential Journeyman
- Able to bend 3/4" EMT/conduit
- MPU, Enphase battery, and Generac
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Very strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Able to work an adjusting schedule and respond to emergencies
- Electrician needs to be an active card holder and be able to do electrical solar interconnections
- Electrician needs to be good with tools and working outside on rooftops, attics, and sides of homes
- Current valid Driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record

Pay range
$30 to $45 per hour
