Job Title: DevOps Engineer

FLSA Status: DOP

Work Hours: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm

Work Location: Hybrid Remote & La Mesa, CA

Reports to: Quality and Release Manager

Summary

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for executing daily, short-term, and long-term activities to maintain and improve the technical operations of the PenChecks development team and cloud-based application environments. In this role you will implement processes and tooling that facilitate high quality application delivery and technical operations excellence. If you are passionate about developer tooling, scale, and automation we’d like to meet you.

Essential Duties

  • Creating, maintaining, and applying changes to cloud infrastructure templates
  • Maintaining application servers through configuration management tools
  • Managing logging and alerting infrastructure
  • Updating Jenkins build pipelines
  • Maintaining integrations with Atlassian tooling
  • Working with information security to enhance and improve our network design
  • Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Limiting and making visible any configuration drift of infrastructure and server configuration
  • Ensuring that logging infrastructure provides clear actionable information
  • Ensuring that our devops practices support our policies and procedures

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Note that these requirements are representative, not all-inclusive, of the KSAs required to perform the job.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Systems Administrator, or similar role
  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code such as CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience with configuration management tooling such as Puppet (preferred), Ansible, Chef, etc.
  • Experience with deployment tooling such as Jenkins, Bitbucket pipelines, etc.
  • Experience with at least one programming language: Bash, Python, C#, Java
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • BSc/BA in computer science, engineering, organizational management, or a related field
  • Experience in the financial services or other highly regulated industry
  • Prior experience in application development or software quality assurance
