PCB Piezotronics, Inc. is Hiring a Crystals Machinist II Near Lancaster, NY

Qualifications:

Education/Training: High School graduate or equivalent; BOCES Machine Shop or equivalent skilled trades school required. Advanced shop math skills: addition, subtractions, division, multiplication, calculating averages, angles, area, volume, geometry, ratios, decimal places, converting fractions to decimals, and metric vs. standard units. Must have ability to read and work from engineering drawings including understanding of scale, views, dimensions, tolerances and material call outs. Must have experiencing using measurement equipment such as a micrometer, drop gauge and calipers. Must have experiencing with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of machining experience. Mininum of 1 year crystal experience.

Physical Demands: Must be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able and willing to work with hazardous chemicals, including solvents, acids, and cleaning solutions and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, steel toe boots, or smocks. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Basic Function:

Follow all PCB procedures and forms in compliance to ISO 9001.

Both independently and under general supervision, works from drawings and/or written instructions, sets up and operates a variety of manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts, performs production tasks that require the ability to follow written/verbal instructions and a thorough knowledge of techniques, materials, tools and equipment. Basic computer skills, and good documentation, time management, and communication skills is beneficial.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Promotes teamwork, cooperation and commitment to “Total Customer Satisfaction” among team members.

  1. Reads and interprets engineering drawings, job routers and job procedures. 
  1. Uses measuring instruments to inspect parts and may follow Q.C. sampling plan.
  1. Responsible for set ups, operation, and cleaning of various CNC equipment per procedure. May operate robodrill, grinders, dicers, lathes, lappers, low level X-ray equipment, hot plates, ovens, ultrasonic cleaners, vapor degreaser, laser etchers, chemical or vapor plating equipment, precision test instrumentation, and other equipment as needed.
  1. Completes all required paperwork and makes data collection transactions as needed.
  1. Shows commitment to quality and total customer satisfaction through dedicating skills to achieve zero defect status and works with engineering to support continuous improvement projects.
  1. Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.
  1. Makes recommendations for process improvements.
  1. Understands program and positioning relative to part dimension and makes tool offsets as required.
  1. Identifies dull or worn tools and changes as necessary.
  1. Sets up material and fixtures and completes production jobs without assistance.
  1. Cycles and jogs machine through all functions.
  1. Completes preventative maintenance tasks as required.
  1. Sets example of a team member for less experienced employees by cooperating and showing commitment to customer service.
  1. Assists in training of new team members.
  1. Responsible for following company hazardous waste management procedures for hazardous wastes which are routinely generated through the manufacturing processes performed during normal duties. 
  1. Maintains a clean and organized working area, and follows established department cleaning requirements.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.
