ABOUT THE ROLE

Under the direction and guidance of the Aquatics Leadership and consistent with the mission and policies of the YMCA of Western North Carolina, as a Gate/Concession Attendant, you will provide entrance and information to patrons and, in the concession stand, safely provide food and beverages

(if applicable). You are to ensure the safety of all members and program participants while maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of all areas in and around the pool. You are also accountable for knowing and executing all aquatic policies, procedures, and duties properly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Politely and efficiently provides patrons access to the pool facility.
• Safely and efficiently serves food and beverages to patrons.
• Thoroughly clean and maintains all areas in and around the pool.
• Provides patrons with necessary and requested information.
• Displays a professional, courteous, and tactful demeanor at all times. Always strives to display a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
• Continuously exhibits honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, reliability, flexibility, maturity, and good decision-making skills.
• Maintains harmonious rapport with staff, volunteers, members, and the general public.

o Assists in membership retention by interacting and building relationships with members and guests.

• Initiates communications with the Aquatics Director as necessary concerning program problems, personnel conflicts, and member concerns.
• Performs all other duties as required by the Aquatics Supervisor, including cleaning of all facility areas.

ABOUT YOU

• Must be at least 15 years old

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Remains alert without lapses in consciousness while outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to constantly and quickly move to various locations in and around the facility. • Ability to communicate verbally with good voice projection and clarity
• Must be able to do basic math quickly.
• Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service.

• Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
• Bend or stoop to reach various height levels.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs and transport equipment and supplies from one location to another
• Ability to work in various environments, specifically extreme heat and humidity.
