Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The mission statement of the Business Systems team is to improve efficiency in the organization through system development, process improvement and organizational alignment. This position primarily supports the team’s mission by facilitating the development and maintenance of a broad suite of business intelligence and automation solutions.The Business Intelligence (BI) Manager will support the Business Systems team and various other internal and external stakeholders by leading the design, development, and maintenance of professional, scalable, and secure BI and automation solutions. The candidate will proactively identify areas for new development or redevelopment of existing BI solutions to create efficiencies in Pattern’s financial and operational activities. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to work with a variety of automation tools to deliver other data solutions, including data flows and process automation. The candidate will be comfortable navigating a complex network of data sources and tools, thinking strategically about the methods by which they will structure data and present it to end users. The candidate will strive for professionalism, responsiveness and attention to detail while juggling many competing deliverables.

Key Accountabilities

• Stakeholder Coordination and Technical Advisory
  • Lead discussions with business partners to identify and collect requirements for automation and reporting projects.
  • Conduct ongoing conversations to maintain alignment with stakeholders, convey status updates, and coordinate end user testing of developments.
  • Provide ad-hoc technical/solution guidance, direction, support and insight to colleagues and stakeholders (outside assigned projects).
• Report/Dashboard Development & Management
  • Leverage Power BI and Power BI Report Builder to develop and oversee development of reports and dashboards for a variety of audiences.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for business intelligence, staying apprised of the latest reporting technologies and features relevant to the organization.
• Data Engineering & Management
  • Develop and oversee development of complex, scalable ETLs for a variety of different business use cases.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on scalable development, encouraging best practices within and beyond our team.
• Support
  • Field tickets from end users related to automation and reporting owned and developed by this team, focusing on long-term solutions and end user education.
• Growing and Training Self and Pattern
  • Building systems acumen and process improvement capabilities within Pattern by leading employee engagement groups/initiatives, maintaining up-to-date process documentation as the business grows and evolves, and staying apprised of the latest business intelligence tools.

Qualifications

Educational and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field, or equivalent professional experience field
• 5 years professional experience using or managing visualization & reporting tools, preferably with Power BI (Desktop & Service), to create reports and dashboards for a wide range of audiences and leveraging a variety of data sources. This experience should include a deep understanding of DAX and M Query.
• 5 years of experience developing scalable and reliable ETL (Extract Transform and Load) and automation solutions using the Azure cloud suite of tools (Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory, Blob Storage, Log Analytics, Azure Monitor), as well as Power Apps and Power Automate
• 5 years using Microsoft SSMS, including writing complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures
• Experience giving work direction and guidance to fellow or junior developers
• Experience interacting directly with stakeholders to define requirements and maintain alignment throughout both short- and long-term project timelines
• Experience handling a time-sensitive queue of support tickets from end users
• Demonstrated excellence and ability to learn new programming skills & languages
• Experience in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
• Experience building or leveraging deployment pipelines to migrate code is a plus
• Experience in the renewable energy industry a plus

Additional Requirements

Skills:

• Data Visualization using Power BI, including experience with both Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service
• Automation of business processes and data flows using various cloud tools, including Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Log Analytics, Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.
• Data Engineering using SQL, SSIS (SQL Server Integration Studio), Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Synapse)
• Ability to write in T-SQL, M Query, and DAX programming languages
• Ability to understand financial concepts and financial systems, including Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Workiva, Hyperion, Reval, or similar systems is strongly preferred
