PATIENT FIRST is Hiring a Systems Engineer Near Glen Allen, VA

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following: Making financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible business decisions; Interpreting policies and providing technical recommendations and guidance for future programs, projects, and growth strategies; conducting project planning and resource estimation for new projects; Developing operational procedures to ensure duties and tasks are implemented; evaluating and ensuring completed work meets performance standards; Building and modifying systems to meet project and user requirements; Deploying, engineering, and optimizing enterprise class, and technology-based systems; Providing recommendations for improvements, evaluating alternate configurations, and developing concepts for modifications and future systems; Analyzing business processes and services to determine how people, processes, data, communications, and technology can best accomplish requirements; Reporting on project statuses, activities, and achievements; Monitoring and maintaining responsible infrastructure systems; proactively ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure; Monitoring and testing application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifying possible solutions, and working with other teams to implement resolutions; Self-motivated, able to make independent choices, free from immediate direction or supervision, but largely follow customer policy; Acting as a technical representative to the customer community for current projects and programs, follow-up business, and future opportunities; Analyzing, designing, developing, documenting, and implementing enterprise architecture to include server disaster recovery strategies and fail-over operations to ensure business continuity goals are met; Attending and facilitating technical design reviews and technical briefings; Interacting and negotiating with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services; Responding to internal trouble ticket system requests and accurately documenting the path to resolution; Mentoring and training staff; Providing on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members; Performing other duties as assigned. Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following: Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field with five years of experience OR applicable training certificate issued in accordance with guidelines provided by software vendor (e.g., Microsoft MCITP/MCSE) from an accredited training institution plus at least seven years of task-related experience; Proven work experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting mission critical systems; Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation; Skilled in applying systems design, development, installation, operations, maintenance concepts, methods, and procedures; Expertise in data center management and data governance; Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks; Excellent technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards, including TCP/IP, Internet, and routing; Expert design knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, WINS, Global Catalog, Group Policy, and server configuration; Solid cloud experience, preferably Azure; Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware); Experience with monitoring systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Splunk); Experience with automation software; Strong experience with scripting or light programming, ideally with PowerShell, Bash, Visual Basic Scripting, Python, Java, etc; Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a complex computing environment; Ability to work independently or as a member of a team on highly complex tasks; Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals; Proven competency with most Windows commands and utilities; Strong understanding of the installation, configuration, and management of Solaris/Linux systems; Extensive experience with IT security concepts and implementation (e.g., PKI, Kerberos, Windows authentication, SSO, MFA, etc.); Expert experience with SCSI, iSCSI, FCoE, SAN, NAS, and other storage technologies (e.g., Nexsan, HP 3PAR, Pure, EqualLogic storage arrays); Experience with hyperconverged infrastructure (e.g., HP, VMware, Nutanix); Experience with external storage systems and backup solutions (e.g., Cohesity, Commvault, Symantec Backup Exec, tape library technology, and continuous data protection); Available for occasional weekend and evening travel to various Patient First sites; Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
