IT Field Technician
The IT Field Technician will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day cabling requests (Patches, Moves, Adds and Changes) to meet service goals and expectations of the user community. Service Requests, Incidents and Tasks are logged and distributed within our ITSM tool on a daily basis. Typical respondent process is to assess the requirements, acquire pricing from one of our certified pool of vendors, coordinate chargeback according to policy, schedule and execute the cabling request. Visitation to sites will be required at the discretion of the IT Field Technician to best deliver quality and timeliness.
The IT Field Technician will also be required to assist in the monitoring and management of BDF/IDF’s. It includes monitoring the health of facilities for overall cleanliness, cable management, power and cooling conditions and participating in the maintenance of best practices and standards. It also includes Identifying risks to service and escalating to the proper party responsible for remediation, maintaining rack elevations and addressing security concerns.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
· Day to day operations
· Triage daily tickets and scheduling of related works
o Assemble Work Order packages for cabling vendors
o Manage to completion and close out of work orders issued to Vendors
· Provide troubleshooting assistance and emergency coverage. Including outside of normal working hours
· With assistance and collaboration from other teams:
o Provide support and resolution to technical issues related to managed devices
o Assist with vendor access and supervision
· Manage and maintain secure entries into Technology Rooms
· Manage inventory of assets in IDF/BDF’s data center
· Manage and update rack elevations
· Manage support of devices through use of tools and automate when possible
· Strong knowledge of Structured Cabling products (copper and fiber) and standards
· Knowledge of power (UPS systems) and cooling systems as it related to IT support environments
· Change Management and assistance for shutdowns and service impacting events
· Other related duties
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum experience of 5 years in IT support and/or IT facilities roles. Has the ability to work across teams and work alone. Strong technical skills with basic networking and desktop systems. Have the ability to understand goals so prioritization and execution of tasks meet expectations.
